Elizabeth is helping out in the tuck shop at the school Halloween disco. When she goes to collect her nine-year-old daughter, Hollie, she’s shocked to find her missing. How did her daughter manage to get past her?
With the teachers wanting to call the police, she has to lie and say she’s forgotten that she was being picked up early by her partner. Why is Elizabeth lying? What is she hiding?
We follow Elizabeth in her desperate search for her daughter. Who would have taken Hollie?
This psychological thriller is based in Scotland. I found it to be a dark and violent read, it was graphic at times.
I didn’t see the ending of the story coming at all, it left me gobsmacked.
A story that held my attention from start to finish.
My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Elizabeth is working the tuck shop at her 9 year old daughter Hollie's Halloween disco. at the end of the night her daughter is missing The staff look for her within the school and suggest calling the police but Elizabeth has something in her last that stops her from involving the police.
She receives a mystery text and later calls from the kidnapper. The messages suggest the kidnapper knows her secret, but which one? Elizabeth calls on her sister Sasha to help her find her daughter but this does not stop Elizabeth chasing around to find her.
The fast pace of this book draws the reader in. I could not put thisbook down. Whilst I figured out some of the clues it still had a final surprise that I did not see coming.
I loved this book. A complete contrast to the dark and highly amusing DCI Logan series by this author which I have read, loved and highly recommend too.
Thanks to Netgalley UK for an arc copy of the book in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

I have read every DCI Logan novel so I was thrilled to be granted a copy of this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book did not disappoint, it had me gripped from the start and I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed the ending, it was a trip!

I was so excited to receive a book from JD Kirk as I have heard good things about this DCI Logan series. I couldn’t wait to get stuck in.
Elizabeth goes to pick up her nine-year-old daughter Hollie from her school Halloween disco. But when she gets there, he is gone. A mother would then tell the teachers that she can’t find her daughter, But Elizabeth can’t tell anyone because of the secrets she is hiding.
She then goes on an action-packed journey to find her daughter, with the help of her sister Sasha and anonymous texts and videos of her daughter kept in captivity. Threaten to tell the truth of an incident which happened several years ago.
Woah, this is my first book that I have read from the author and all the good things I have heard about him is so true. This not a normal typical run of the mill story about a missing daughter. This is a tense thriller of a ride story of one mother’s journey to do what ever it takes to find her daughter. This is a brilliant page turner, that had me at the edge of my seat. 5 stars from me.

Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and JD Kirk for the eArc of My Daughter is Missing,
I'm ashamed to say this is the first JD Kirk books that Ive read and what have I been missing?!! I sat and listened to this one pretty much in one sitting as it was so captivating, We follow our main protagonist, who takes her daughter, Hollie to a school but when she goes to pick her up. She has gone missing. No one knows or has seen her. In a panic, Elizebeth recruits her sister to help her find her daughter and the mis-endevours that happen on the way.
What I like about this book is you are constantly questioning where this book is going. Is Elizebeth an unreliable narrator? Are the police really that unhelpful? Why has no one seen Hollie? The pacing and the plot spins you around a few times and then sets you off in a direction that I didn't expect for a while. I did however pick up on some very clear foreshadowing. Something else I love about speculative psychological thrillers. It keeps you guessing but if you read/listen well, the answers are there for you to find. I loved the big finale.
This book was also narrated by Cathleen McCarron. A new narrator for me but I absolutely loved her voice. It suited the mystery/thriller and pacing of this book completely.
4.5 stars for Storygraph, 4 stars for other review sites

This was my first JD Kirk read and it was a deeply dark and twisty tale.
The action starts in the first chapter when single mum Elizabeth’s nine-year-old daughter Hollie goes missing at her school’s Halloween disco.
Elizabeth vows to get her back, whatever it takes. And it takes more than she could have ever bargained for. Just as well her mysterious sister Sasha, who doesn’t take kindly to bullies, has turned up to help.
The bodies soon start to pile up, secrets are revealed and justice is meted out.
I do enjoy an unreliable narrator – and Elizabeth certainly ticks that box. I did guess the big twist fairly early on, but it didn’t spoil my enjoyment of the book.
Well-written and darkly humorous in places, it reminded me of a TM Logan or John Marrs thriller, with a bit of added gore.

Her little girl is missing and she knows why but no-one else can know! It is a exciting plot with thrills and spills to get you involved. I couldn't resist reading it and the further I read the more I wanted!

I loved this book so much I could not put it down once I started that was me hooked. There was so many twists and turns that kept me guessing throughout. It was such a gripping thriller with a tense atmosphere. I loved the writing style and the fast pace it was one of those books that had me on the edge of seat throughout and I can’t wait to recommend this to everyone. What a fantastic book and thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this great thriller.

When does JD Kirk ever let readers down? Never! A standalone so I didn't know what to expect but I wasn't disappointed. A child goes missing, but the mother cannot get the police involved for reasons yet to be revealed, so we are taken a madcap journey as she tries to chase up any clues, finding lots of strange situations. Elizabeth involves her estranged sister which leads to some good twists. I laughed at the woman at the fair reading a detective novel and saying one of the detectives nearly got hit by a train- great nod to Tyler there! It's very fast paced with a lot happening, and there's humour to help it along.
Really enjoyed it, so thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

3 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was so excited to read this! J.D Kirk writes one of my favourite detective series - The DCI Logan series and The Robert Hoon books also deserve a special mention for being hilarious 😂 so getting this arc felt very special!
Some thoughts :
- As usual I love the writing style. It’s easy to follow, doesn’t use complicated or complex language but it’s balanced out with description and detail that gives you what you need without being overkill. I will say this was so different from what I’m used to from this author but I still enjoyed.
- This had a great premise. Elizabeth certainly had her own secrets and I enjoyed the pace throughout this. I just didn’t have the sense when reading that I was completely gripped or immersed in the story. Something was missing for me.
- The ending was messy. It didn’t feel like it was really explained in the way I wanted it to be. I did love the twist and reveal in this, i could see how it made sense but it also then left me wondering about all the those things that weren’t explained. Like weird Alan? I do think it has some plot holes or just things that I wish had been wrapped up in the epilogue.
- My biggest issue with this book was entirely my own bias. I absolutely love the DCI Logan series so for me, I don’t feel like this is even comparable in the same way. This just doesn’t give me that feeling that the authors other writing does. As a stand alone, I enjoyed it. It was a great palette cleanser and I’m glad I’ve read it! But it wouldn’t ever be my favourite from this author!
Thank you again to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I must admit (to my shame) to have only.read one of JD Kirk's previous novels, so I came to My Daughter Is Missing with almost fresh eyes. It was clear from the outset that he knows exactly how to reel a reader in and keep them there, and he did not seem phased at all by the slight shift in genre. His writing is so fast paced and slick that I had no trouble at all racing through the chapters!
My Daughter Is Missing is narrated mostly by Elizabeth, and occasionally her sister, Sasha. I didn't warm to Elizabeth as easily as I thought I might, but her reluctance to involve the police in Hollie's disappearance makes it clear that she has something to hide, and I was incredibly intrigued as to what this might be. I would have liked more chapters from Sasha's viewpoint, as I felt she was a more mysterious character and I wanted to know how she had become the character we see in the novel.
As we reach the denouement of My Daughter Is Missing, and more worms come out of the can, there are several twists and turns - most of which were a complete surprise to me. I loved the tension as the novel sped towards it's ending.
I must definitely read more from this author in futu

This is a tense and incredible read.
I love this genre and you can really feel the tension of the characters with the superb writing and storytelling.
It is filled with drama with enough pace and twists to keep a reader in awe.
Worth all the stars

My Daughter Is Missing is the author’s first dabble into the psych thriller genre. As the DCI Jack Logan books are one of my favourite series, I was eager to dive in.
The book starts with a familiar scene, the PTA fundraising disco. Elizabeth has drawn the short straw, manning the snack table; the self appointed Queen Bee, Mabel Walker, allocating her the worst job. Meaning she is unable to see her daughter, Hollie, enjoying herself. As the monotonous evening draws to a close, it becomes apparent that Hollie has inexplicably disappeared.
The story starts at a pace, wasting no time. Hollie’s disappearance and Elizabeth’s desperate search for her, raise many questions. It quickly becomes clear that Elizabeth is hiding secrets. Secrets that have put her beloved daughter at risk, and secrets that make her isolated in her fear.
The characterisation is as good as you would expect from JD Kirk. The cast are all fully formed individuals, with their quirks and insecurities in tow. Though Elizabeth’s backstory is intentionally vague.
I found myself a little frustrated during the middle part of the book. The story started at a pace, but then didn’t seem to progress at the same level, though the twists and turns kept coming. As the pages keep turning, everyone’s secrets are revealed in all their glory.
I found the ending to be slightly ambiguous, the intention possibly being for readers to join up the dots in their own minds. I did see part of the plot, before the reveal, but maybe this was part of the plan of the author. I love reading the DCI Jack Logan series, and I wanted to love this book too, but I just don’t think I was the right fit for the book. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but I didn’t quite connect with it.

Heart pounding, twisty and a little dark. "My Daughter is missing" is a book about a little girl that just vanishes without a trace after a school disco. Her mother, Elizabeth, searches for her everywhere following clues along the way, all while her partner acts very suspicious...I loved reading this book as it didn't give much away and had some great plot twists, especially in the end! Highly recommended to readers that like edge of your seat thrillers!

Not my usual type of read - I normally chose detectives dressed as squirrels books. However, I really enjoyed it and would be interested to read more of this genre. JD Kirk has a brilliant style with real underlying humour - even in a tense novel like this. I warmed to Elizabeth immediately and enjoyed the characterisation of the others too. I figured out the ‘twist’ in the first half, which did spoil my enjoyment of the remainder of the book.
I’m grateful to JD Kirk, the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in return for this honest review.

My little girl is nine years old and she is missing
She should be skipping around and laughing
Her teacher asks me if she could call the police
But I said no I’ve just remember that I know where she’s is
I’ll always look out for her
I had an ARC

JD Kirk does not disappoint me ever.
This book was very amazing, it grips me for the start. The twists were jawbreaking. You know I couldn't put this one down as soon as I started it.
This is my honest feedback! Thanks to netgalley for this ARC

JD Kirk loves his totally crazy characters, and it’s good to see he doesn’t confine himself to males when it comes to crazy.
In this short thriller, Elizabeth becomes frantic when her nine-year-old daughter goes missing after a school Halloween event.
She can’t tell the police or they might dig up secrets about her she needs to stay hidden. She can’t even let anyone know Hollie is missing.
The secrets slowly emerge in this psychological thriller, with some big twists at the end.
Evaluation: I always enjoy JD Kirk. Others have said they guessed the twists in this; I most emphatically did not. I loved encountering them, and I love his very, very dark sense of humor that peeks out from time to time in this gritty novel.

Absolutely incredible the pacing is perfect, the story line is incredible and kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn't see any of the twists coming

First, a huge thank you for allowing me to read this as an ARC!! I am always honored.
My Daughter is Missing is the first book I've read by JD Kirk and it won't be the last.
Hollie is missing from school. How did she get past her mom? Was her Mom part of it? You'll have to read this twisty thriller to find out. But first, Sasha is back and what does that mean for Hollie, her niece? Elizabeth and Sasha haven't seen each other in a while. Why is she back? Who's dropping bodies in various locations? And more importantly, why?!?! How does Hollie fit in?
The mind blowing twists leading to the epic ending answer everything and more. Questions you didn't know you were asking yourself until the end. WOW!
