It took me a little to get into, but when I did, I enjoyed it.

I did find it a little spicier than I was expecting!

I have not read the first two in this series, but may go back and fix that.

I do know I can't wait for the next one!

Loved this!
Mael and Kharis love story built in such a beautiful way!
The “opposite sides of the track” vibe, the subtle tension of attraction building till it’s too much- all under the allure Mael is teaching Khari how to please!
makes me melt!
I haven’t read the first book of the series and thankfully felt like I wasn’t actually missing any important information regarding Mael and Kharis story and found the tidbits from the previous book perfectly laid out what I needed to know

I know miscommunication in a book is a very dividing trope but I think it went great with their story! I liked how it showed that during tense times communication breaks down even for the strongest characters
What can I say I’m a sucker for a break down and then a hero moment 🤷🏻‍♀️

At first I struggled to get into this book because its written in third person and thats just not what I'm used to.

I continued though and while it was a good read, I do think the world building could have been a little more in depth (although I didn't read the first 2 books). I definitely think this should be a trilogy rather than standalone.

3.5 thank you netgalley for the arc!

I loved this book. I did feel like the ending was rushed. I feel like this definitely could of been a 2 or even 3 part series. I was happy with the ending though. I just wanted more from it.

Forbidden love • monster shifter • fated mates • degradation kink • spicy spicy spicyyy!

I devoured this book so quickly. I absolutely loved the banter and evolution of the two main characters’ relationship. I feel like this leans more towards paranormal than fantasy, I’m not sure what category it’s actually classified under. I would love to see this story continued!

This was my first book by K.L. Ziggler & I devoured it.
Of Want and Wings brought me back to my Wattpad days, and I mean that in the best way possible.
I absolutely love a FMC who is deemed as a timid woman, but knows she’s meant for so much more and doesn’t let anything stop her from achieving it.
I also love a broody MMC who hasn’t known love until he meets a woman that completely takes him by surprise and captures his heart.
Khari and Mael were meant for each other. She sees him for who he truly is, and loves him despite who he never wanted to be. He knew they couldn’t be together, but he didn’t let that stop him. He was enamored by her from the very beginning.
Mael was willing to give up his freedom from Hawkins to keep her from having to live a life he knew wasn’t good for her.
Khari was willing to marry a horrible man to guarantee the freedom of her mate, and to stop the war.
I hate that Khari had to go through the torture of becoming half beast, but I also think it was always her destiny. She never felt like she had the power to do more, but once she spread her wings, she was able to save herself and the ones she loved.
I loved this book and I’m so excited to read more of K.L. Ziggler’s work.

Thank you @netgally for an eARC in exchange for a honest review.

So... I understood this to be a standalone in a set world... and so I read it as a standalone and probably should've read the other two. The reason why is because I would've had a better understanding of the world and of Ziggler's writing style.

This book leans more into the romance side of a romantasy, with our FMC Khari being on the shy side and in my opinion easily manipulated.

I didn't mind the book, the worlds building was non-existent but that could be because I should've read the others... and the miscommunication trope has been completed used up in the final 30% of this book.

When I got this ARC, I really loved the blurb, so I decided to read it as a standalone and purposefully not read the rest of the series just to see if it actually worked as a standalone.
I’ve noticed recently an uptick and authors claiming that they have interconnected standalone‘s, and they are not working as standalone’s at all.

This one actually did work, and there were only a very few points in the book maybe three total where I felt like I wanted more information but it wasn’t a need. There was absolutely no moment in this book where I felt completely confused as to what was going on.

I really liked the FMC and the MMC and I liked their interactions together, my only issue was towards the end where they just stopped communicating as well. It felt very odd because they had been so great at communicating up until that point they could’ve saved themselves a lot of of issues if they had just been open in that moment as they had been previously.
It frustrated me to see the change in both of their personalities for the sake of the plot if that makes sense.

Of Want and Wings by K.L. Wiggler, was a great book! This is the first book I've read from this author and I'll tell you what, she sucks you into the story immediately. The changes the main characters, Khari and Mael go through was amazing and done just right. They both grow into themselves and learn to accept who and what they've become. The ending was sweet and wrapped up nicely with the couple but did leave a little bit to be answered about the war. Hopefully there will be another book to see what happens! Overall this book is a must read! Thank you #netgalley for allowing me to read and give a review!

Of Want and Wings is a captivating addition to the Magic & Monsters series, with an emphasis on romance and character development. While the overarching plot takes a backseat, the sizzling chemistry between the characters more than makes up for it. The romance was well-paced, and the steamy scenes kept me engaged from start to finish.

Khari, as an FMC, stood out in the best way- her shy and reserved nature was a refreshing change from the usual bold and fearless heroines in the genre. This made her journey all the more compelling. While reading the previous books in the series isn’t necessary, I found myself drawn to them once getting into this one. A solid 4-star read that romantasy fans will love!

This is the first book I’ve read of Magic and Monsters series. This book had fated mates and forbidden love, which are tropes I enjoy. However, I didn’t think there was a lot of story building on the characters, the world/history, or how fated mates came to be.

The FMC (Khari) was shy and reserved, which was different from most other FMC in this genre. I do think that Khari was made to be a little too helpless throughout the book.

The chemistry and spice between the main characters was the highlight of the book. Their love was a love that everyone looks for in a mate.

K.L. Ziggler delivers another captivating installment in the Magic and Monsters series with Of Want and Wings. This book is an intoxicating blend of sizzling romance, raw acceptance, and the undeniable pull of two souls meant for each other.

The romance is undoubtedly the heart of this story—electrifying, passionate, and beautifully balanced with deep emotional connection. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, and the way they embrace each other's flaws makes their love feel all the more authentic.

The MFC is a standout. She’s strong, determined, and fiercely independent, though her naivety at times adds a layer of vulnerability that makes her journey all the more compelling. Watching her navigate love and freedom is both inspiring and heart-wrenching.

With Ziggler’s signature blend of fantasy, intrigue, and deeply layered characters, Of Want and Wings is a must-read for fans of romantasy who crave both heat and heart in their stories.
