A lovely collection of bowls for various meals and situations. An international book of recipes that has a lot of inspiration and suggestions to liven up your meals. The book includes a selection of basic recipes in the appendix that are used in a number of the larger recipes in the book. The focus on bowls makes a nice compact meal, perfect for lunches, or quick meals when you're short on time.

This was one to get into, but not necessarily as exciting as I thought. With titling it "Bowls", I thought it would be a little bit more creative with different styles and ways to combine yummy ingredients/components. But this was a collection of recipes, all various types, that you can put in a bowl to eat, or a plate. So then Bowls should have just been a regular cookbook with great photos and stories and recipes.
Mind you, the collection here is great. There are some fave dishes that I'm glad to try because they're common and delicious, comforting meals, and the directions are written well. And the photos - those always help since I'm usually inspired by photos first. They are stunning and attractive and show how the author truly loves this. Just a little disappointed from what the title promised.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This is a great cookbook full of varied recipe ideas. It is well presented and the recipes are easy to follow

This was a very nice cookbook with interesting recipes and great photos. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Bowls is a visually appealing cookbook that provides a great deal of variety to any menu. The selections vary from breakfast to dinner. The broadly defined bowl in this book allows for overnight oats to chicken noodle soup to no bake lime cheesecakes. The important thing is that delicious is on the menu.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.

UNBOWLEAVABLE. Omg.
Anyway, there are lots of yummy and interesting breakfast, lunch, and dinner bowls, as well as snacks and desserts to round out the meal. There are plenty of combinations and ideas that might not occur to someone just starting out making bowl meals- there are a lot of options and it can be intimidating if you are unsure where to start!
Lots of nice photos give the reader an idea of presentation as well as preparation, so they can look as good as they taste.
I’m definitely going to try quite a few of these!
I received a free ebook copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

This book has some beautiful pictures and some fun recipes. However, it didn't have much personality to me. I suppose the central theme is that you can serve anything in this book in a bowl but when I think of the word bowls I think of like a burrito bowl so that's what I expected -- in contrast some of the recipes are like soup, salad, etc. Some of the recipes seem great but nothing really blew me away or felt cohesive. If you're looking for some inspiration or want to try new recipes this would be a good one! But if you're looking for variation on bowl meals then this might not be as much for you.

I love cookbooks and I love bowls so this book has everything I love. The recipes aren’t too complicated as well as easy to follow and gather the ingredients. I love that the pictures are with the recipe so I can quickly flip to an image that looks interesting and cook that. I’m just a really big fan of cookbooks and cannot wait to check out more.

Simple recipes, heavily spiced. This is great for adventurous chefs!
Tha k you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

I love the photos, but the format of the recipes (font, etc.) was offputting. It felt almost like a rough draft before the personality came through. These recipes were approachable but almost too basic for me.

This is a lovely book filled with different kinds of bowls for anyone and everyone loving bowls. Whether you want breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert, this book will have it. This book has recipes for several different diets including vegans. I recommend this book to all bowl lovers!

This gave me so many great ideas! I’m trying a few of the recipes this week.
I wasn’t expecting such a broad range of bowl meals, there are so many cultures represented in here.
Thank you for the ARC!

This is a gorgeous cookbook full of healthy, beautiful recipes that look delicious. There are photos of about 2/3 of the recipes but no nutritional information. There’s a wide range of dietary needs that could use the recipes including vegan, paleo and gluten free, though they aren’t labeled as such. The photography is stunning and I would happily eat most of these.
I read a temporary digital loan of this book for review.

I AM STARVING NOW. All of these dishes looked amazing and the recipes are formatted in a way that is really easy to follow. I appreciate the little personal tidbits from the author.
Can't wait to try these recipes!
Thank you NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for an ARC of this title!

This book has a few very nice receipes that I would try but it has a lot more basic receipes that I already now how to cook so I would not buy this book. This book would be very good if you are not confident in cooking from scratch and want to cook fresh food.

I was looking to try some healthy recipes and this cookbook definitely contained lots of great recipes. What I loved about this cookbook is that it features a range of recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options. The pictures are colourful and beautifully capture the food. There are lots of vegan and vegetarian recipes of dishes.
Thank you to Cider Mill Press and Netgalley for a digital copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Interesting recipes. Beautiful pictures. Easy to follow instructions. Looking forward to trying the different bowls.

"Bowl" as a collection of recipes was a mixed bag for me. As the image on the front cover suggests, I was expecting a culinary exploration of different interpretations of "the bowl" - something that has a base and toppings. Ayesha Singh seems to approach the subject quite loosely as some of the "bowls" actually meant "dishes that are served in a bowl", such as soup or pasta. I think this could be due to the pressure of coming up with over 100 ideas for recipes.
This ambitious quantity could be also to blame for some recipes to feel very unoriginal with no twist, those that you'll find on any basics food blog. Maybe some home cooks, especially those who only begin to explore the art of cooking, will find these simple recipes useful as having this book will definitely save them time of googling, but this is actually what makes this book not worth buying for me.
There are some interesting recipes that I will definitely try and that were such an inspiration. If the book would focus on less recipes but for more original bowls that allow readers to explore different flavours and textures, this would be a gem on my cookbook shelf. How "Bowls" looks now simply seems like a publisher putting pressure on the author to come up with as much recipes as possible, regardless of them actually making sense and fitting in this context, causing some corners being cut.

Ayesha Singh’s Bowls is a celebration of simple, satisfying meals—each thoughtfully composed in a single bowl. With a focus on balance, flavor, and ease, Singh presents a collection of recipes that are healthy without being restrictive, vibrant without being overwhelming, and, most importantly, entirely approachable.
