Pizza like a Pro

This book explains the different types of doughs for pizza and includes so many recipes with manageable ingredients. It was composed in a very informative and actionable application.

It is very inspiring for the various techniques that can be applied to making home made pizza. I love the ability to know exactly what ingredients are going into your food.

The book had some very artistic photographs included.

I received a copy of this book from Cider Mill Press. I have elected to leave a review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of PIZZA: The New Classics. This is a great addition to any food lovers library. I loved that there were multiple dough recipes for different effects and that both more traditional and more interesting recipes were shown and that different styles across different countries were explored.

I haven't tried any of the recipes yet. However, I like many of the ideas, especially pizzas from around the world, there are many great ideas I will definitely try in the future. As well as the different doughs, I have my standard dough I always make but I'm looking forward to trying something new.
As to the structure of the book, I think it is well structured.

The title says it all really...this is entirely about PIZZA!

With an introduction into how pizza came to America, the supposed routes of different regional American pizzas and then recipes to support it all, this is definitely a book for any pizza loving American.

I found the history talk interesting but, as a grit, struggled with the American dominance of this Italian food - and how American orientated the recipes are. That being said, there is a conversion chart for measurements towards the back.

I did like that the recipes have pictures and there are some great flavour combinations to explore!

I love pizza, and I generally make it at home a few times a month, so this book was instantly exciting to me. And holy wowza, I have received a thorough pizza-making education!

First off, I never knew there were so many variations of pizza crust. This book has recipes for many types, and it even tells you the best uses for each type. Then for the toppings... This book breaks up the recipes into regions. The most obvious example is pizzas from Italy, but there are also pizzas from all over the world, including America, Japan, etc.

Some of the topping combinations seem a bit weird. But it's pizza, right? It's not like I'd ever go out and order a Ham and Onion Ring Pizza, but if someone offered me a piece, I'd try it—because pizza! Basically, there's something for everyone in this book, from classics to modern takes on one of America's most beloved foods.

This cookbook is a mix of great ideas and some... interesting choices. It covers a solid range of techniques, from making dough to picking the right toppings, and the photography is beautiful. I appreciated the classic recipes, like a well-balanced Margherita, and there were some creative topping combinations that actually worked well.

That said, a few of the recipes were a little out there for my taste. I like a good twist on a classic, but some combinations felt more experimental than appetizing. Still, even the weirder ones gave me ideas for tweaking my own pizzas, so I wouldn’t call them a total loss.

If you love making pizza at home and don’t mind a mix of traditional and unconventional recipes, this book is a fun addition to the kitchen. Just be ready for a few surprises!

I made the Neapolitan pizza dough. I’ve made pizza dough a couple times before but this dough was one of the easiest to stretch and mold than other recipes I’ve used.

I love all of the toppings and combinations of "new classics." That said, the format reads like a very basic clinical blog, and it wasn't a fun read.

The pizza bible...

This is an awesome pizza instructional book. I wanted to make pizza and this book provided me with a thorough understanding of pizza, including types of flour and yeast, to the myriad of types of pizza like deep dish and the different types of crusts,. Cider Mill Press is putting out exceptional cookbooks and that holds true for PIZZA: The New Classics. From techniques to recipes, this book provides a fundamental understanding of pizzas of the world (mainly Italy and the US).
Highly recommend.

This is an extensive pizza book with quite a few recipes for all kinds of dough, authentic sauce, and oodles of pizza recipes from around the world. There are photos for most but not all recipes and no nutritional information is provided.

Note: I am currently taking part in the weeklong boycott of Amazon and its products, which includes Goodreads. I will be publicly reviewing this book at the end of the boycott dates.

Updated…. Reviewed on Goodreads.

So many of us love pizza whether it comes as a slice from the corner or a sit down restaurant with a wood burning stove. However, what about trying to make pizza at home? Those who are interested will find an excellent resource in this title.

The photos of finished pizzas will make readers hungry. Maybe this is the inspiration to start buying ingredients and getting to work.

The author of this title notes that pizza has been important for their family. Continuing that interest and love for the many kinds of pizza (American, Italian and others featured in these pages), the author has gathered an excellent collection of recipes.

This book does not look like it is for the novice. I think that it is beyond me honestly. However, I imagined that I could produce these and trust that many will.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for this title. All opinions are my own.

There’s an Interesting and informative section at the start of this book, explaining the differences between types of pizza.

Then a selection of recipes for different pizza doughs for the possible bases, followed by a huge variety of pizza recipes and suggestions for toppings. Many of them would be easily adaptable for vegan or vegetarian alternatives.

The accompanying photographs look very appetising.

So many ideas I am keen to try out - especially potato as a topping!
