Trigger warnings: child rape (not in detail), child murder (not in detail)
I'm including the trigger warnings since I was unable to find them anywhere, and as a mom with a toddler I wish I had been warned that there was child rape in this book. Although not depicted on page, it is still a rough topic to read about and it is mentioned quite a few times. If I had known, I possibly would have passed this book up.
According to NetGalley, this book is supposed to be "adult fiction" and "mystery and thriller"...I'm not sure I would classify it as any sort of mystery/thriller. All of the characters are laid out in front of you with no mystery as to who will end up on the infamous "shark list"; if you've wronged the Hammerhead Gang or the society any in way, you can guarantee your name is on that list. In fact, we know exactly when someone is added and why. There is no mystery.
As for the characters, they're supposed to be somewhere between mid-late twenties (post high school/in college) and their maturity level is abysmal. They act like they're still in high school. One of the characters mentions he feels like he has "peaked" in life....and by his actions, I would almost say this is a fact.
On a few occasions, it is mentioned that they have girlfriends "at home" but their actions make it seem like they don't truly care about them, they are constantly partying and after the "ladies" on the beach and John-Boy is constantly depicted with a different girl (although there are no explicit sex scenes in this book, it is alluded to multiple times for his character). This makes it seem like the author almost forgot about the fact these boys are supposed to have significant others that have been previously mentioned.
The main plot line of the book (the serial killer) feels rather rushed and disjointed at times. We don't actually meet him until about 20-30% into the book which I think is rather late considering how short the book is. Also during this time in the book, the boys act more like knock-off vigilante batman than anything else.
Unfortunately I can't think of any of my friends that I could recommend this book to, but perhaps some high school guys that think they are invincible and like to play by their on rules would enjoy this one.
I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book before it is published.

THE SHARK LIST - Definitely an entertaining, interesting, and intriguing story. Good characters and interesting story lines filled with different and unpredictable stuff. A quick, flowing read but I did not like the way the Epilogue was written. Apparently, there's more to come. Source: Netgalley. 4*

this was a good read. a little different to the usual mystery and thrillers in a really well done way.the little twists and turns and then a few surprises were original and kept you guessing. i must admit i was a little skeptical when hearing this group of "lads" took on the task of bringing people to justice. and as the book unraveled i like how little parts of their lives revealed a perhaps deeper plot. especially with who this couple they met were involved.

A unique, fast paced thriller centered around 5 young men from Panhandle Florida who by association (and through their leader Creigh) became known as "The Hammerhead Gang. This group of handsome, talented young men (having won championships in their young lives) took it upon themselves to bring wrongdoers to justice.
However one night they meet an older couple called Kent and Kim- and unbeknownst to them this encounter ends up altering their lives forever. The story was enjoyable with a cliffhanger that i never saw coming but had me wondering as to what would happen next for the men- a clever ending by the author.

An adventure novel with a bit of romance!
The shark list follows a group of five boys named the Hammerhead gang who are your modern day Batman’s, ridding the Florida community of those who do wrong.
They decide to undertake the task of stopping a serial killer which leads them through the southern states and into the Virgin Islands. I enjoyed the plot a lot and would recommend!

the shark list book review
Come along for this exciting ride !!
The shark list is a thriller novel focusing on a group of 5 boys from the Panhandle of Florida nicknamed the “Hammerhead Gang”
The Hammerhead Gang had won many football championships and all received full ride scholarships to universities and colleges through the southeast USA.
During one of their summer vacations they had met a couple in Destin, Florida.
Kent & Kim would often party with the Hammer Head club and the boys thought nothing of it…. until they did.
