I enjoyed this book. But it was nothing new or very exciting. The writing style did not draw me in and I was not a huge fan of the pacing.

Thank you to Elle Valor, BooksGoSocial, and NetGalley for the ARC. My review is voluntary, and all opinions are mine.
This book follows Kari and Declan. They had been involved years before until tragedy struck with the death of Kari's father. Now they encounter one another. They are still seriously attracted to one another. Story had some heated scenes. I felt there were some instances where the scenes weren't realistic. For example, when Kari finds out her father was murdered. It was drawn out going back and forth between Kari and Declan each chapter.

My Second Chance Billionaire Doc is a heartfelt and easy-to-enjoy romance that offers plenty of feel-good moments and emotional beats. Elle Valor has a nice touch with writing connection and chemistry, and the second-chance trope is always a comforting go-to for romance lovers.
The characters have a solid foundation, and there are some genuinely sweet and tender moments that shine. The billionaire doctor hero brings a nice mix of charm and brooding, and the heroine is strong and relatable in her own right. While I would’ve loved a bit more depth or surprise in their character development, their shared history does create a nice emotional pull.
There were parts where the pacing felt a bit uneven, and a few plot elements wrapped up a little too conveniently, but overall it’s a warm, low-angst read that’s easy to settle into. It may not have totally wowed me, but it’s the kind of book that delivers exactly what you expect—a comforting love story with a few sparks and a satisfying ending.
If you're looking for a light romance with a familiar, cozy vibe, this book is a solid pick. I’ll definitely be curious to see what Elle Valor writes next!

A bit of jeopardy with hight stakes romance makes this book a pass. It's a Mills and boon type. These millionaire men heroes or whatever. But for me they have to be done well. And when they are they are great for a certain type and time in the reading room. But this felt a little too try hard. And a style that wanted so much to do that style because it's popular. But for me it never quote caught.
It wasn't bad though. I think I just expect too much as Mills and boon types hit the nail on the head every time.

2.5 stars rounded up. Declan is a former military surgeon who meets Kari while deployed to Afghanistan. The two are separated and years later find themselves on the same island. This book kept me wondering 'how did that take place' and, as a former military spouse, made me think 'is it possible that this kind of thing could actually happen'. The story is dual POV with a lot of repetition about some of the things that were occurring. The ending felt rushed, Overall, this was an interesting read and good storyline.
Thank you to NetGalley and Ella Valor for this eARC for an honest review.

I am going to start with the good! The reason for the 3 stars in the first place! I couldn't put it down! There was a draw in the story that had me continuing to want to know more and what was going to happen next. In the beginning I wanted them to get together and I was excited for her to forgive him! There was a lot going unsaid and lot that wasn't allowed to be said and that was frustrating but in a good way! Overall, the main storyline was great and had plenty of exciting twists and turns! The fact that it kept me wondering is what gave it three stars rather than 2.
Now the reasons that it was missing 2 stars. There was too much that just didn't add up or make any sense. The writing felt unexperienced and choppy. Like they were handed a list of things you may want to include in a romance novel like this and they simply threw in random bits and pieces to satisfy those needs. With this it left a lot of unfinished random thoughts like when Declan mentions getting injured in Afghanistan, Kari makes it seem like she's really leaving but it lasts less than a chapter, the storm and weather being inserted and really not playing a major role in the story, Karis mom sending her a letter in the past. Ther were also parts that just didn't really fit in the story to add any significance. The animal rescue, Caleb and the way she thought she may have had stronger feelings for him, the women showing interest in Declan but not really adding to what's between him and Kari other than him just being uninterested, Declan mentioning not wanting to drink in the beginning, and the constant talk of Declan clearing his name although the only person who seems to really know and have an issue is Kari herself. There are a lot of grammar errors, and I am not going to go through them all, but a good example is where a whole section repeats between pages 163-164. In the end they act like they were walking into a war but there was no danger that showed itself. It was a bad attempt at an enemy to lover trope where she managed to jump into his bed way to early and easily to ruin the actual tension that was lying between them.
Overall, I loved this story, and I would recommend it, but I think that before it is published it needs to spend a little bit for time in editing and review!

This book was okay but nothing to write home about. The billionaire doctor premise was intriguing but the fmc was a bit annoying and being unreasonable a lot.

Kari was way too stubborn for me to like. She is not willing to listen to anyone else point of view. She takes the word of someone in the beginning and that is it. Declan is very patient and waits Kari out. Helping her through everything that she needs. I'm grateful that he has friends that have his back.

The plotline was very manufactured. Kari is a shrew to expect her doctor boyfriend to be a miracle worker and blame him for her father's death. Poor Declan has yo deal with her shit attitude.
And what's with all these billionaire heros these days!!!!
The writing style is dual POV and was easy enough to read. Did not find this book compelling, though.
