My Daughter is Missing by JD Kirk is a psychological thriller and I listened to the audio version, which was excellently narrated. A nine year old girl called Hollie is missing. She disappears after the school fancy dress party and her mother can’t find her. Her teacher asks if she can call the police but her mother says no.
Then her mother looks everywhere she can trying to find her and then her sister then helps her. Unfortunately people then turn up dead after her sister meets them. A very fast moving story that doesn’t slow in pace until the very end.
An enjoyable read. Fascinating characters and a complex storyline.
Highly recommended

Rating: 4.5
My Daughter is Missing follows mother Elizabeth as she searches for her daughter who goes missing after a school dance. If you’ve read any of the other books by JD Kirk, you know that there will be intense drama that will feel so real at times that it creeps you out, at least it does me. This one was no different. Recommend not reading before bed as you may not get to sleep because the story has its hooks in you.
Panic anxiety of a mother searching for her child, the fear of not finding her in time is griping not only through the words but also through the chilling narration. This book takes you on a wild ride as Elizabeth races around looking for Hollie. There are twists, turns, curveballs, you name it. You might guess a few and have others sneak up on you. They won’t take away from the enjoyment.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #BookoutureAudio for the opportunity to do an early read and share my thoughts on the story.
Happy Reading!

Thanks to NetGalley for this advanced audio by JD Kirk for a chance to listen and review.
Unfortunately, My Daughter is Missing didn’t quite hit the mark for me. While the premise of a missing child and a mother's desperate search has the potential for a gripping, emotional story, the writing style didn't resonate with me.

My first of this author and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the book. The plot was clever and interesting.
The narrator did a great job in narrating the story.
Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher Bookouture Audio for the opportunity.

First of all, what I liked most was the accent, the narration was so SPOT ON!!
As a mother, I realized that something was very wrong for her not to report her daughter's disappearance. Almost 80% of the way through the book I suspected that she had kidnapped Holly from the beginning but the following twists I wasn't prepared for...
A very well written thriller and a very intense and very well done narration. Congratulations.

"My Daughter is Missing" by J.D. Kirk is a psychological thriller. It is set in England near London and in modern times.
Elizabeth's 9 year old daughter, Hollie, disappears from a Halloween party at school. Because of some secrets in her past, Elizabeth doesn't want to get the police involved.
She enlists the help of her sister, Sasha, to find Hollie. Sasha has rather violent methods to interrogate suspects.
None of the main characters are very likable. I wasn't able to relate to any of them.
I figured out the biggest twist very early on. The rest of it was still pretty interesting.
I would recommend this to readers who love thrillers.
Cathleen McCarron did a very good job with the narration of the audiobook.

Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture Audio, and J.D. Kirk for providing this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

The book was soo good. It took a little longer to get through because I wasn’t as much a fan of the narrators accent while I was listening, but the book kept me going!!!! I recommend reading this one!!

This is the first audiobook from this author that I have listened to, but knowing others who have regularly recommended I read/listen I was sure I would enjoy it.
Great narration of this book keeps the pace steady and unfolding in a natural manner, the narration was easy to listen to and set the tone for the book well.
I listened to this audiobook over a short period of time as it held my interest from beginning to end. I did find one of the plot twists very easy to guess early on in the book, but then I found I was second guessing myself with every turn the book took. The final twist though, that was not one I was expecting at all.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook & will now be adding more by the author to my to-listen-list.

I thought this book was very interesting and unlike most other thrillers I've read. The performative audio was a little over the top for me and not my favorite but I do understand why they did it that way.

The book itself was good but felt it was a little long for the story. I wont spoil anything but I felt the story plot could’ve been condensed, however it was a clever plot. I did listen to this story in audio form and the actress did a great job. There are some strong triggers in this book for some sensitive people. The story did keep me going and it was quite an ending. All the twists and turns are there in this thriller and if you’re a fan then don’t skip this book.
I want to thank @NetGalley and @bookouture audio for allowing me to listen to this audio Arc.

My goodness, that was one hell of a plot twist! However, I saw it coming early on. The complex relationship between Elisabeth and Sasha was intriguing—I liked how it all came to a head, giving us more insight into their twisted dynamic (which I totally predicted!). Gregg was trash, and so was his girlfriend! How could you be with someone knowing the cruel things they had done?
I wasn’t expecting to get Holly’s point of view, but it was a nice touch. And what the hell was Clive up to? How did he even find himself in that situation? JD Kirk did a great job of keeping me on my toes, constantly wondering what was going to happen next!

Elizabeth's daughter, Hollie, has disappeared from a school function. Because of Elizabeth's mysterious past, she will not trust anyone to help her find her daughter, but after an unexpected turn of events, she reluctantly contacts her sister, Sasha, to help her during this desperate time. The story has parts that seem to drag on unnecessarily, but the narrator has a great Scottish accent and a pleasant voice. As a reader, you have a pretty good idea of what is going on, but it is not confirmed until the dramatic end. My rating is low because I was left with too many questions. I understand the twist at the end, but I have questions about almost everything that happened between the beginning and the end. Nonetheless, this was an entertaining listen.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me access to this audio book.
The book itself was good, face paced. The audio was a bit harder to get through since the accent was so thick.

To me, this book was more about enjoying the experience of the journey rather than receiving gratification in the destination. I did feel like it dragged at some parts and then glossed over others, but it definitely kept me guessing right until the end. It sprinkles so many different breadcrumb trails that you’ll think you’ve got it all figured out until you reach a dead end and have to start over. A twisty read.

My daughter is missing was a good thriller. It kept me entertained until the end. She can’t go to the police for help and has to figure it out herself.

I listened to the audiobook and this one was interesting. She refuses to reach out to the police when her daughter goes missing. She has a lot of secrets and even her daughter missing won’t make her reach out to them. I found her very unlikable and not like any mothers I know. The book had very little description so it was hard to imagine the setting that they were in. I would not say this was much of a thriller. I did guess all of the plot twists and much of the ending.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Started off to a good pace and I was hooked with the twists and turns however the narrator started to frustrate me and this then distracted me from the story. The storyline started to dip and unfortunately I did not finish the book, which is unusual for me.
Not as thrilling as I’d hoped, more of a suspense novel than a racy thriller.
Thanks to bookature and netgalley for an ARC in return for an honest opinion.

Thanks to NetGalley for this advanced copy by JD Kirk for a chance to read and review.
Elizabeth’s daughter Holly disappears after the Halloween disco at her primary school . Set over a weekend and set in Edinburgh, I liked the concept and the authentic accent of the audio. There are lots of twist and turns and hints of something bad in Elizabeth’s past that may have caused the abduction. I loved the synopsis , loved the Edinburgh setting, but this was PAINFUL.
For me, after reading so many thrillers, this was incredibly boring and predictable, It honestly felt like a 60 year soap opera like The Young and the Restless, where you can skip an entire decade and still come back to the show knowing exactly what was going on. Each chapter was such a slog, the exact same thing was happening and then repeated in the next chapter so the "suspense" continues. Honestly, I cannot believe that I made it to 40%. At this point, I skipped to 80%, then 90% (Elizabeth's climbing up the stairs to search for her daughter, took 4 or 5 chapters!). The ending, where we get a single teeny POV from the daughter, was completely underwhelming for all of that repeated drama.
I don't like providing negative reviews, but this one was just not for me.

What lengths would you go to save your child? Nine year old Hollie has gone missing and her mother, Elizabeth, will do whatever she has to do to find her daughter. She will stop at nothing to get her daughter back and to make sure all of her dirty secrets stay locked away where they can't be exposed.
I can say with all honesty that throughout this entire book, I had several theories, and not one of them turned out to be even close to accurate. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and it kept my attention the entire time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves psychological thrillers with no predictability. Not only was it well written, but it will hook you in from the very beginning.

Many thanks to NetGalley, JD Kirk, and Bookouture Audio for the audiobook. This was a thrilling listen, expertly narrated by Cathleen McCarron. Packed with twists, dark moments, and plenty to unpack, it kept me completely engaged!
