I listened to the audiobook and this one was interesting. She refuses to reach out to the police when her daughter goes missing. She has a lot of secrets and even her daughter missing won’t make her reach out to them. I found her very unlikable and not like any mothers I know. The book had very little description so it was hard to imagine the setting that they were in. I would not say this was much of a thriller. I did guess all of the plot twists and much of the ending.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Started off to a good pace and I was hooked with the twists and turns however the narrator started to frustrate me and this then distracted me from the story. The storyline started to dip and unfortunately I did not finish the book, which is unusual for me.
Not as thrilling as I’d hoped, more of a suspense novel than a racy thriller.
Thanks to bookature and netgalley for an ARC in return for an honest opinion.

Thanks to NetGalley for this advanced copy by JD Kirk for a chance to read and review.

Elizabeth’s daughter Holly disappears after the Halloween disco at her primary school . Set over a weekend and set in Edinburgh, I liked the concept and the authentic accent of the audio. There are lots of twist and turns and hints of something bad in Elizabeth’s past that may have caused the abduction. I loved the synopsis , loved the Edinburgh setting, but this was PAINFUL.

For me, after reading so many thrillers, this was incredibly boring and predictable, It honestly felt like a 60 year soap opera like The Young and the Restless, where you can skip an entire decade and still come back to the show knowing exactly what was going on. Each chapter was such a slog, the exact same thing was happening and then repeated in the next chapter so the "suspense" continues. Honestly, I cannot believe that I made it to 40%. At this point, I skipped to 80%, then 90% (Elizabeth's climbing up the stairs to search for her daughter, took 4 or 5 chapters!). The ending, where we get a single teeny POV from the daughter, was completely underwhelming for all of that repeated drama.

I don't like providing negative reviews, but this one was just not for me.

What lengths would you go to save your child? Nine year old Hollie has gone missing and her mother, Elizabeth, will do whatever she has to do to find her daughter. She will stop at nothing to get her daughter back and to make sure all of her dirty secrets stay locked away where they can't be exposed.
I can say with all honesty that throughout this entire book, I had several theories, and not one of them turned out to be even close to accurate. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and it kept my attention the entire time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves psychological thrillers with no predictability. Not only was it well written, but it will hook you in from the very beginning.

Many thanks to NetGalley, JD Kirk, and Bookouture Audio for the audiobook. This was a thrilling listen, expertly narrated by Cathleen McCarron. Packed with twists, dark moments, and plenty to unpack, it kept me completely engaged!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC opportunity!

This was so good! I really enjoyed the search for Holly and finding out small details as we went. It kept me on the edge of my seat.

I clocked the “twist” pretty early on but that didnt deter me at all or ruin anything. The whole situation as leaning that way from the get go. And figuring out that Sasha is actually who took Holly before she was pushed/forced down was an interesting take too.

Mental health is so important and this shines a strong light on that.

This book caught my eye due to the title and description and I have never read anything by this author before. If you enjoy suspenseful stories then this one will be for you. The story revolves around the main character after their daughter goes missing at a school halloween party. The author builds tension through out and i liked the well developed characters. This was an easy listen and the narrator did a great job of making this come to life. I would highly recommend this audio book and look forward to reading more by this author in the future. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this audio book.

3.3 stars - Possible spoilers - Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC audiobook of 'My Daughter is Missing'. I really wanted to enjoy this book, especially with such an intriguing premise. It definitely grabbed my attention at first, but by the end, I felt a bit let down. There were too many plot holes and unanswered questions that left me confused about how everything connected. Why was Elizabeth’s husband killed? What was the significance of the neighbor’s death? Was that just to add another potential suspect? The affair subplot, however, was a highlight—it was hilarious, and I couldn’t stop laughing during that part. But overall, the ending didn’t quite come together for me. Did the daughter understand what happened? It jumped to a year later but felt like it wasn't finished ...

My Daughter is Missing by JD Kirk Narrated by Cathleen McCarron

The suspense in My Daughter is Missing had me on the edge of my chair the WHOLE time. Elizabeth, whose nine year old is missing is NOT like most parents with a missing child, like avoiding calling the police. This drove me insane because if my child was missing that would be the very first thing I would do. Something isn’t right and it seemed as if she was trying to keep her past from getting out, or getting back in. Without spoiling anything this was a wild ride especially the ending.

This was a suspenseful, emotional, tense read with so many twists. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook of this and the narrator did a really good job bringing Elizabeth and her sister Sasha to life. This is one for the action packed thriller lovers!

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ALC audiobook. This review is voluntary and all my own words.

I read and listened to this book at the same time. The narrator has a heavy Scottish accent which is fine, but it was just hard for me to understand at first. Once i got the annunciation of some wording down it was okay.

Elizabeth’s daughter Holly disappears after the Halloween disco at her primary school . The action is then set over one weekend as Elizabeth desperately searches for Holly , there are lots of twist and turns and hints of something bad in Elizabeth’s past that may have caused the abduction. I loved the synopsis , loved the Edinburgh setting so it’s definitely my sort of book however I really did not enjoy it .
I don’t like giving negative feed back and just because for me it was book I intensely disliked doesn’t mean others won’t love it but I found it boring and predictable, I had no empathy or sympathy for any of the characters and only continued to the end as it was an advanced copy and needed a review

This book started off strong, and I was instantly invested in Elizabeth’s search for her daughter, Hollie. From the moment she refused to contact the authorities, I knew she was hiding something. When she reached out to her sister, Sasha, the story took an even more intriguing turn.

The narration was excellent, and I especially appreciated the short chapters, which kept the pacing brisk and engaging — a definite plus for me.

However, around the 85-90% mark, the story started to lose its momentum. My enthusiasm faded, and I found myself just wanting to finish. The ending felt lackluster, and I even went back to listen again, thinking I might have missed something.

That said, there was plenty of excitement throughout the book to keep me engaged in most of the book. A different ending and I would have given the book one more star..

Thank you to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for this ARC.

I requested this book from NetGalley because the description really caught my attention and it sounded super interesting and it definitely didn't disappoint. Cathleen McCarron narrated this title beautifully. she has a strong Scottish accent which most people might find distracting but I actually found that the cadence of her voice and her accept added the emotion and overall feel of the story.

This book was filled with twists and turns and had a strong plot development. When Hollie goes missing her mom takes it upon herself find her missing daughter and she’ll do whatever it takes! Following her along on this journey though out the story was gripping and full of twists you’ll never expect!

Im excited for this to get published and for more of you to enjoy this title!

At first, I didn't care for the narrator. She had a very Scottish accent and used the same voice for all the characters. But as the book continued, the voices started to change a little. And then, I got an image in my head that Rowena from Supernatural was reading to me, and then I had no issues with the narrator, lol. But this book! 😳😲 If you are looking for a psych thriller that will keep you guessing and on your toes, this is it! I had 3 different theories early on, and one was actually correct. However, that took nothing away from this story, because it wasn't revealed until the last 5% of the book (audio actually goes to 105%). I loved the characters. The setting wasn't discussed much so I really couldn't envision anything but something like a stage set. My 14 year old daughter made me finish listening to the last 40% at one sitting. She was invested. I absolutely recommend this book.

Rating: 3.5 ⭐️
Format: Audiobook 🎧
Perfect for: suspense fanatics

The suspense in My Daughter Is Missing kept me wondering the entire book, what could possibly be happening here! As Elizabeth frantically searches for her missing 9 year old daughter, this story gets stranger and stranger as Elizabeth does not act like a typical mother with a missing child. She avoids calling the police, leaving the readers speechless with her antics. It’s obvious that Elizabeth is running from something or someone from her past, but the question is who or what is she running from. And is it so bad, that she would risk seeking to find her daughter on her own with no help from the authorities. Meanwhile, her sister Sasha is conducting her own investigation simultaneously & they can not be “handling the case” more differently as they are polar opposites.

This story was tense, drew out emotions, suspenseful and had several unexpected twists! Overall, it’s a good read and the narrator did a good job bringing life to Elizabeth & Sasha. Recommend for fans of suspenseful thrillers. Thank you Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for this advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.

3.5⭐️

Overall, this was an enjoyable listen well narrated with points being made well by Cathleen McCarron with her voice being a really good fit for this story.

When Hollie goes missing from her school disco, most parents would contact the police immediately for help, but this isn't the case in this scenario. As the plot unfolds, we discover whilst as a single mum she has so much more in her past than anyone around her knows of, so she has to find her daughter herself. This transpires as various events occurring that without ruining the story you don't necessarily always see coming so it does definitely keep the reader/listener interested.

There are a few twists, enough that kept my interest throughout however I did find at the end I was a little confused by the characters and what exactly the outcome was not sure if I missed something somewhere or this was the point it is left open to interpretation?

With thanks to Netgalley & Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen to this ARC in return for my review. Best wishes for publication in April 📚🎧🙏🏼

I loved this book from start to finish, a lot happened at around 80% of the book so stay focused otherwise it gets confusing! So many twists and turns! The narrator was great to listen too, overall I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t stop listening! Thank you NetGalley for the arc, it was a great listen!

This one was an amazing audiobook however not sure I would have been as enthralled in the read as I was the listen. The narrator did a fantastic job keeping a fast pace and the story flowing.
I fear I have too many questions left at the end of the book to give this 4 stars.
It was good but not great a solid 3.5 stars for me

What would you do if your child went missing??

As a mom reading this book it really is a story of how far you will go if someone takes your child!

I had a dock a little due to the fact that I guessed a big part of the twist at the end but everything else shocked the heck out of me!
I was on my toes the whole time!!!

Super good and fast paced thriller!!! I highly recommend!!!

A missing child is any parent’s worst nightmare. I remember when I went took my two daughters shopping and the three-year old wondered off to the top departments. I was a wreck. There was a call over the PA that a little girl's mommy is lost. I hurried and found my little girl sitting chatting to the security guard eating a cookie!
SO I cannot imagine when a child is really missing.
In this case Elizabeth is helping to chaperon the school’s costume party.
When the winner has been announced and Hollie did not win, Elizabeth knows she would be hurt so if looking for her. How could Hollie have passed by her and gone out the door? She had on a huge butterfly costume that was hard to miss.
After parents and teachers helping to look for Hollie with no luck, Hollie’s teacher suggests calling the police. Elizabeth immediately shakes her head no and says perhaps she make a mistake. The teacher has a suspicious look as do I.
Elizabeth knows that the police cannot get involved.t know. Elizabeth knows deep down that Hollie didn’t wandered off. She has been taken. Someone must know the truth about Elizabeth; we readers suspect it has something to do with her sister, Hollie’s aunt Sasha.

I was somewhat prepared for an emotional story since it involves a child. We are given clues slowly.
The ending was a wild ride!
