This book was outstanding and resonated with me similarly to the show "Lucifer," showcasing an impressive energy throughout. I especially valued the dynamic between the main characters as they each pursued their individual journeys. Their character development brought me significant enjoyment, and I found the narrators to be exceptional in their performances.

The novel presents a delightful mix of sweetness and spice, while maintaining an engaging plot that ensures the narrative remains balanced, without allowing the more intimate scenes to overshadow it.

I was so captivated by the book that, had it not been for needing sleep and work commitments, I would have gladly listened to it in one sitting. The narrators did an excellent job of bringing Charlotte and Lucifer to life, with Ethan Reid's voice particularly suited for the character of Lucifer.

I am eager to see what the next installment in this series brings, especially given the conclusion of this book. I hope to see more emphasis on the depth of Lucifer's love for Charlotte, as I believe we needed a bit more exploration of that theme. I am very much looking forward to how the story unfolds in the second book.

This book was amazinggggg!!! In my head it was giving the same energy as the show Lucifer in the best way. I loved the dynamic between our main characters and both finding themselves in their own ways. These characters made my heart happy. And the narrators were fantastic. Also so excited to see where this story goes in book 2!

I don't often dip into the dark romantasy genre but this was a perfect introduction to it - the novel is sweet and spicy but the plot is interesting enough that it isn't just completely overshadowed by the spicy scenes. My only quibble was the dissonance between voices - I loved that the different PoV chapters were narrated by different actors but it was odd to hear the characters essentially having two voices/accents across chapters. Took me out of the narrative a little bit.

What happens when a girl trying to escape her religious cult past comes into collision with the devil himself, Lucifer. Sin incarnate himself.
Tropes:
Grumpy vs Sunshine Personalities
Fake Marriage
Religious Trauma
Smutty
Honestly this book had me hooked from the gorgeous cover. It’s for sure a perfect representation of what this book entails. We meet Charlotte, a woman who has escaped her past from a cult like church to the Big Apple who works for the Devil, Lucifer himself. When her scathing rant she wrote in anger gets anonymously released she must pretend to be Lucifer’s new wife to help his image with the world.
But of course what’s the fun of the heat of having some sexy fun with the sin incarnate without the chance of falling in love?
I honestly loved the vibes this book gave me, the show Lucifer mixed with a little dash of Fifty Shades of Grey.
Lucifer was as hot as you can imagine. The narrator for Lucifer, Ethan Reid, was sex incarnate and had me blushing with his narration. The voice of Charlotte, Isabelle Turner, was just the perfect choice to voice a character who is trying to get over her past and is just fumbling around like all of us do.
I loved this book. For sure will recommend to anyone who likes shadow daddies( the OG Shadow Daddy) and just novel that flows so naturally.
For sure a 5 star read on both fronts being a physical read and honey for the ear.
I’d like to thank NetGalley Brilliance Publishing for an audio & Ebook copy of this book. I’m forever grateful.
This review is a honest reflection of my feelings towards this book.

Oh how I LOVED these narrators and this story. Ethan Reid? Excuse you, but your voice is everything. Absolute perfection for Lucifer! And Isabelle Turner, you were the perfect Charlotte.

I loved the drama, the spice, the BDSM and the BETRAYAl!!

Usually I annotate while I read, but since this was an audiobook all I can say is, there were SO many lines I wish I could have highlighted to pull out for this review. Kait, you wrote such an enticing and fun start to a new seven deadly sins series! I can't wait for more!

Get the audio!

It has been a while since I've read a book by Kait and paranormal romance, so Original Sinner definitely revived my need for them. If I didn't have to go sleep, I would have listened to this whole book in one sitting. I was captivated the entire time and the narrators did a fantastic job bringing Charlotte and Lucifer to life.

Overall, I enjoyed this one and I'm looking forward to whatever come's next of this world, which I hope we do get more after how things end. The one thing I was hoping for more of was just the overall feeling that Lucifer truly loved Charlotte. And I think we just needed a bit more time with that.

5 stars to the narration by Isabelle Turner and Ethan Reid, both narrators I have no listened to before. And I'll definitely add to my favorite list and keep a lookout for more by them!

Intense, Gritty and Emotional!!

Our main hero (anti-hero?) is Lucifer. Yes, that one. Called “the originals”, he and his siblings Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Pride etc. have come “topside” and are running businesses (and the world?).

Bring on Charlotte. She was raised in a fundamental church where she was tightly controlled, had her future laid out for her, and to stray resulted in physical punishment. She has run away, and acquired an internship, which quickly escalates to an assistant to the head of PR.

The dichotomy of our main characters could not be more diverse. Normally Lucifer can see inside someone to their sins; he sees nothing in Charlotte. Not always easy, with fire and brimstone always close at hand, but a fascinating read, well presented, keeping the reader / listener (I personally listened - the narrators were perfection) fully engaged.

“Original Sinner” by Kait Ballenger was phenomenal! I loved her creativity with her storytelling and being able to tie everything together. Perfect execution. Spicy seven deadly sins with Lucifer in the mix, yes!! Throw some religious trauma, abuse, lust, pain, and desires that’s multiple levels, yesss!!

I loved the world building and how it all smoothly transitioned. It was easy to get sucked into this book with the vivid imagery and the love of the characters. Which the character development definitely was great. Lucifer (MMC) was alluring, mysterious, a trickster, and everything you want your MMC to be in a PNR Dark Romance. Charlotte (FMC) was also amazing. She was strong, a fighter, witty, funny and completely lovable.

I was able to experience the audiobook for this journey. The narrators nailed it! They truly brought this story to life. They really captured the characters and how I feel Kait wanted her novel to be told. I would definitely listen to more stories both have narrated.

Overall, I loved this book and the audio. I highly recommend it! The spicy was deliciously written, characters on point and the world was easily one you’d want to experience. I can’t wait to read more from Kait.

Thank you Netgalley and Brilliance Publishing for this ALC!

"Original Sinner" by Kait Ballenger is book one in the new series "Original Sinners." I listened to the audiobook and absolutely loved it. The narrators did an awesome job, and it was a very well written story by Kait. I liked how the story jumped back and forth between Charlotte and Lucifer, and I was able to hear both sides of the story. My favorite scene was the piano scene, and I also enjoyed the authors note at the beginning. This book kept my attention the whole time, and I just couldn't quit listening. I enjoyed Charlotte and Lucifer's characters, and the storyline was amazing. I look forward to when the next book comes out.

Original Sinner by Kait Ballenger
Dark romantasy. Present tense, alternating POV. Erotica elements including BDSM.
New York City is run by Lucifer and the seven deadly sins. Brothels, elite bars where sex and temptation are the only part of the menu, and sin is the name of the game. The media and paparazzi follow the power players for the salacious news stories. It is not a playground for the innocent.
Yet, NY is exactly where Charlotte goes to escape her religious and restrictive past. She gets an assistant PR job where she ends up working directly for Lucifer, who cannot resist her. He can’t see her sins and it’s driving him mad. If he can’t see any of her sins, he’s going to make sure he gives her a few she will never forget. The PR job turned fake relationship turned play room kink drives both Charlotte and Lucifer to the unknown.

2nd read
🎧 Narrators Isabelle Turner and Ethan Reid will keep you captive and captivated throughout the story.
It’s unforgettable.
Bonus - amazing whispersync price!

Enrapture, domination, anger, pleasure and lust. Just the tip of the emotional entanglements.

This book is so much more than a spicy romantasy it dives into generational and cultural trauma leading the FMC to peace, awareness, and self acceptance all while turning the heat up with kinks and the Devil’s playroom! This could be a fun surface level spicy read or you can dig in deeper to the narrative and find a truly beautiful story…however you prefer to read it it’s 5 stars for sure! Can’t wait to dive more into Lucifer and Charolette’s story in the next book!

“I don’t need to tempt them. They come willingly.”

A deliciously, dark tale of the Original Sinner. It was fascinating to watch Lucifer fall to the graces of love for an ordinary woman. I loved how we see Charlotte really grow into her own, developing a headstrong strength that matches Lucifer’s darkness but yet still maintains true to herself. She doesn’t back down from his dominance, and it’s truly captivating to watch it all unravel.

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions, Miss Bellfleur.” I purr. “You’re about to learn that lesson, explicitly.”

I do want to see more of the family dynamics of the angels and their “history” and can’t wait for the rest of the series unfold. I did enjoy how some of them are the 7 sins incarnate! That was a fun twist!

The audio of this was perfectly done and I highly recommend it! It’s the best way to experience Lucifer’s devilish nature and his growls 😆.

“You want to burn, Charlotte? So be it. I’ve always liked to play with fire.”

This book was..... hott. I loved the entire mythos story line in this book. The concept of the 7 deadly sins isn't a new concept per say but I really enjoyed the way that Ballenger did it! This was really all my supernatural loving heart needed. I also really appreciated the back story for Charlotte as someone who grew up in a strictly religious area I feel like stories like hers need to be brought more and more into the light. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Lucifer and Charlotte and found myself rooting for them. The ending tho!! I need book two asap!

The narrators did a fantastic job of bringing this book to life. I loved all of the characters and loved that they were are completely distinguishable from one another.

Original Sinner was a very fun, quick read! It felt similar to many dark romance books I've read of recent, but what set it apart was the commentary on religious trauma, abuse, and overcoming purity culture -- which I really enjoyed and appreciated. The story was engaging and I enjoyed the characterizations of the Originals!
