First and foremost, thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the eARC of I Am No Bird in exchange for my honest review.

Review:
Unfortunately, this was not the book for me and I DNF'd at around 60% and will post my reasons as to why below.

The positive:
I loved the artwork throughout. It definitely gave the book something special and I absolutely loved them.
I also did very much like Alice and Vera for the most part.

The Negative:
The dialogue often felt forced and unnatural. Most conversations did not flow well. The relationship between Titus and Alice often left me feeling...uncomfortable .The way he treated her as a 17-year-old often felt inappropriate. Yes, he was her trainer and guardian, but there were some comments and behaviors that felt borderline inappropriate. However, I think the biggest issue I faced with I Am No Bird (again, in my opinion), is that it suffers from trying to put too much in too quickly which lead to it feeling inconsistent with a bit too much focus on world building dumps over world building through the plot. For example, the character 'Caleb', isn't officially introduced until nearly 40% despite being one of the three important characters listed in the synopsis. This just led to the pacing feeling off and in some places, clunky.

I do seriously wish I loved this book because it is actually a fascinating idea, It just didn't feel quite 'ready'.
