Well this was adorable!
The illustrations are very cute, and it has a very easy to follow rhyming scheme. I’ve read this many times now to my almost five year old - but it’s perfect for younger ages too!
Thank you to Netgalley for sending me an ARC of this one ❤️

My four kids and I read this at bedtime, and they just cherished every page. They loved how sweet it was. I loved the picture and the storyline. Wonderfully done.

An adorable book about a little koala and his mommy. My daughter’s both enjoyed this book and the fun things baby koala and his mommy did. The loved that it rhymed and the colorful pictures.

Mummy and Me by Freddie Corrick is a charming story that follows a koala and their "mummy" as they spend a day together. From engaging in playful activities to tackling everyday tasks, the book beautifully captures the joy of simple moments shared between a parent and child. As someone who reserves Mondays as "Mommy and Me" days with my daughter, I truly appreciate the realistic portrayal of such quality time.
The illustrations by Mia Tivey are soft, sweet, and visually pleasing, perfectly complementing the gentle tone of the story. While the cover features a pink color scheme, the book makes no reference to gender, making it an inclusive choice for both boys and girls.
The story’s focus on the bond between parent and child can be applied to either children of single parents or those who cherish one-on-one time with their mom. The absence of a second parent in the narrative adds to the relatability, and I also noticed the author offers a companion title, Daddy and Me, which could similarly resonate with children.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Very short and sweet book, my 5 year old daughter loved this and the illustrations. She now wants to read more about Koalas

Mother of two here, and we enjoyed Mummy and Me, by Freddie Corrick! The story follows an adorable koala mom and son and all the adventures they have together in a day. The story flowed well, and a rhyming book is always a hit in our house. As a mother, I loved sweet things they did together, and my children LOVED looking at the pictures. The illustrations were beautifully done, by Mia Tivey, and my kids loved the alligator hat! The story kept everyone’s attention, and it was perfect for my 8-year-old to read to my 5-year-old. I would definitely recommend this book to family with 1-5yo children.
Thank you to NetGalley and Two Windmills for this eARC!

This was such a beautiful book. The ending made me clutch my chest with how sweet it was. I love the idea of children having one on one time with parents. This book would be great for parents of multiples who have a child that is craving one on one time. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful!! There were maybe two small parts where I wasn’t sure if it was a typo or if it was supposed to read that way, so slight improvement to readability would make it perfect.

I appreciated this book a lot, I almost wished there had been more! I know the book is centered on what they’re doing, and the author included a lot of dialogue between the child and parent which demonstrated the parent’s attentiveness to caring for her kiddo. I usually don’t like rhyming lines, but this actually felt good! It was effortless and gave a good rhythm to the book. I think demonstrating the importance of leaning into a child’s interests while still having boundaries/doing what needs to be done (the mom still needed to wash the car!) is wonderful modeling for authoritative parenting. The child’s playfulness is encouraged as are manners and patience. It’s clear the mom had been working on this with the kiddo before because he stood in the queue without making a major fuss. The illustrative style was also wonderful! It felt homey and bright and had some super simple elements like the clouds, moon, and stars. I would gladly read this book to my niece!

FYI, this version did not work correctly on kindle
I received this as an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for a review.
This book is about a little koala who gets to spend the day with their mum.
This book is beautiful, I throughly love the illustrations.
The story itself starts out pretty cute, but also sets some very high expectations for mums.
Starts out with special breakfast, a trip to the park and then when tired a trip to the supermarket (not sure who would want to take their toddler to the supermarket when already tired, but each to their own. Perhaps this would have been more believable had it been ‘tired of the park’ rather than ‘tired’ in general?).
When they get home mum makes lunch and the koala ‘helps mum’ by cleaning their own things. And then mum gets to go and wash the car. Even after this it doesn’t seem like mum needs a break but is fully immersed in little koala’s playtime - I got my hopes up when I saw her depicted with a book, but it was for reading aloud (I did, however, tell my son that mum was reading her book while little koala played).
Then it’s time to make dinner, eat and have a bath after which it’s time for bed.
It’s a cute book and I wouldn’t mind reading it again.
My main issue is that the rhythm in the rhymes sometimes seems flawed. I certainly didn’t ‘rhythm out’ the phrases correctly on the first go, which I think you need to be able to do for most of the phrases in a book for toddlers/young children.

An absolutely adorable book!! This book is written really well, and accurately shows the loving relationship between a mother koala and her kid. I have no doubt that mummies and kids everywhere will utterly love this book and have a sweet and fun time reading. This book is laid out so nicely, which allows the story to flow really nicely and also minimizes confusion. It was a very smart idea for the author to have the plot of this story be that of a full day because it creates a story that comes full-circle in the end, which is great for a kids' book. Lastly, the illustrator did a fantastic job of allowing emotion (specifically joy) shine through on each and every page, making for a lively and heartwarming story for every mummy and every kid. Bravo!!

What a cute book! Love the color scheme and the illustrations. Nice rhythm on the pages. As a mom. I can wait to read this to my little one!

This was ADORABLE! This is such a realistic look into a mum and daughter’s standard day at home together.
(this was my daughter and I’s days together before my son came along)
The Illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. Can’t wait to purchase this for my home!

A very cute and charming little book capturing the pure joy of a baby spending the whole day with his mom. It's probably most relatable for families where the mother typically works full-time and the child goes to daycare. For such kids, a simple day with mom—visiting the park, shopping, enjoying pizza, bath-time, and bedtime—truly feels like a special holiday.
Stay-at-home moms might find this daily routine a bit repetitive, almost like a Groundhog Day. But the book gently invites us to see these moments through the adoring eyes of the little koala, reminding us of the magic in the ordinary. Stay strong, moms!

Wee cute koala tells us of the special bond he has with mummy and how the ordinary is rooted in that special love and care.
Adorable, caring and has a good, subtle moral to it.
The characters look sweet.

Such a lovely book. My girls loved the story and the illustrations. It’s been added to our growing list of bedtime stories.

This was an adorable book about a mommy koala spending the day with her little koala kid. They made time for play and made sure to have time to do the important hygiene/reading/learning things. The illustrations were so cute and really easy for toddlers to understand with not having to much on the page for a distraction. I will definitely be picking up the hardcopy of this one for my little.

It perhaps doesn't need saying, but the special day in "Mummy and Me" here is mostly about the 'me' – a child koala, who gets their favourite breakfast, gets a lot of attention in the park, and again at night when it's time for song, story and bed, and extra cheese on the pizza made for them at dinner. Mummy? Mummy gets to have to do all this, and the shopping, and washing the car – there's not that much consideration there, however patient the kid is in the store and however helpful it may try and be. Still, that's what she signed up for – and the bond between the two is pretty solid, as this lovely rhyming testament to how well they get on together shows. I'm sure there's an extended version of this where she whips off her bra, sinks into a couch and wraps herself around a bottle of cab sauv. Until those bonus pages appear we don't get a proper balanced, realistic look at parenting – but even when all that is said, the mother koala would probably appreciate reading this little charmer to her little charmer.
