A great look at how General Tito came to power during WWII. It’s nice to see a WWII series that focuses on something other than another Jewish person in Auschwitz. Those stories are important, but there was more to the war than the Holocaust.

Firstly thank you Netgalley for this Arc
What a brilliant book so true to life and captivating
Can’t wait to read more by this author

I was captured from the beginning as the characters were instantly familiar. The story follows Alix as she works with the resistance, under the leadership of Tito, to firstly ensure the safety of their country and to evade the Germans. While this is ongoing they are trying to get the British onside, but at present they seem to prefer to go with Mihailovic and the Chetniks.
Alix is working alongside her friend Dragomir & Nikola who her father wanted her to marry, working in close proximity and under such challenging times, what effect will this have on them, bearing in mind that Alix still longs for American Steve Popovic.
I found this a fascinating book, loved the characters and had a special fascination with Tito, reading up about him afterwards.
Loved the bits about poetry and Tigger.
Look forward to whatever the author comes up with next. Recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

the research to these books make it feel more real and more heartbreaking. i have to admit i was eager to find out where our characters were now. i got so angry about some of the behavior from the characters(one mainly) in previous books. i wanted to make sure a few of my much loved ones were still ok! this is a brilliant series to follow but each hold their own.
i found reading about this side of the war extremely interesting. and how similar in the sense of suffering so many people and families were. and how many people stoop up and against all odds. people of all races, all wealth really did do their bit. of course not everyone. but thats the same in life right. but those who do acts of huge bravery like in this book have you filled with both compassion and inspiration for. i cant fathom how people did what they did during that time. whether it was just being at home living everyday life amongst a war. or to those in the resistance who i cannot even imagine did the things they did. ive read up lots on this subject and the life they led, the things they did are beyond harrowing.
i was definite from the start of this book who i wanted the characters to end up with and that added even more depth to my feeling throughout the book!
this book felt real. it felt like the author new the words she was writing so well. the research done for these books felt so true and in this made the books hit home even more. and have you rooting for the characters too.
this is just the kind of book anyone loving this genre will love. and if you read this one you must go back and read the other two in the series.
