Thank you NetGalley and Jenny Proctor for the ARC!

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Going into this I knew it I would love it because I love anything that Jenny writes. It was cute. It was cheesy. Romantic. Life long best friend’s falling in love. It was all the those things and more. Sophie and Peter were adorable and I loved them from the first page. I kinda want more of there story tho 👀 now I’m gonna need to go back and read the others in this “series”. Highly recommend just so dang cute.

Absolutely positively adorable! This is one of Jenny Proctor’s best. I loved the characters, I loved the story, and I fell in love with love all over again.

Sophie is just the best—a huge heart and soul. She just doesn’t quite trust herself with love. And her eye for landscape and design pops off the page—Proctor did her homework well!

Peter is the perfect hero in my opinion. Handsome and fit but not in an obvious way, and socially awkward as all get out, which leaves him with missed opportunities.

Gotta love the building and all its quirks. This one was fun and subtle—until it wasn’t. But so much fun to watch!

I received an advance copy from the publisher. My review has not been solicited and I’m under no obligation. Highly, highly recommended!

Friends to lovers is not a go to trope for me. But Jenny Proctor gets it right in Petals and Plot Twists, although I will say that I thought there might be a book or writing related subplot given the title.

Peter and Sophie support one another. They encourage one another. They balance one another. They are each other’s rocks; to the point that everyone else in their lives treats them like they might as well already be in a relationship.

As is the theme in this series, the magic is low key. In this case, a flower that blooms in the presence of true love. But what’s best about Sophie and Peter, is that their love existed before a flower told them so.

I think the most important part of the book is a reinforcement of the fact that magic or no, love is something you decide to do, work to maintain, and always be appreciative of.

Another adorably sweet installment in the Only Magic in the Building series.

Give it a read for:

-friends to lovers
-he falls first
-nerdy guy
-plant girl
-only one bed (kinda?)
-acts of service as love language

Thanks to NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute and fun read that I wasn't able to put down. I really enjoyed The Serendipity, a magical, whimsical apartment building that acts up when people aren't in love?

I don't love the miscommunication trope but otherwise I really enjoyed this.

Would you let a flower determine your true love?
That's exactly what Sophie tries to do as she realizes the flower only blooms when love is near. She just can't see that she's been in love with her childhood best friend forever and his been in love with her too.

This is not my normal genre of book to read but I'm so glad I did. It was cheesy, it was funny & it was easy to read and the characters were so likeable. The whole way through I was like just see that you two are in love!!! Sophie stop going on dates 🤣🤣 I'm so glad they got their happy ending. Would definitely read a second part to their story.

This was a sweet, friends to lovers, dual POV, he falls first romance set in the Only Magic in the Building series and the town of Serendipity Falls. I loved that Sophie finally got her 'main character' moment and was rooting for her and her bestie, Peter from the get go. There's a fun element involving a magic 'love flower' that only blooms in the presence of couples who are meant to be but there's also a realistic foil that has both Sophie and Peter making a choice to take a chance on a love together even at the risk of their friendship. Swoony and a quick read, this had some recurring characters but can be read as a standalone too. Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Set in Serendipity Springs, Massachusetts, Sophie starts to see her best friend Peter in a new light just as a she finds a magic "love flower" that only blooms in the presence of true love.

I loved seeing Willa's friend Sophie get her own story! I've been reading this series in order as they are released and really enjoyed seeing other characters show up.

To me, best friends to lovers is one of the hardest tropes, particularly pushing past prior miscommunication to get out of the friend zone. As their relationship shifts, there are times that Peter and Sophie misunderstand each other but are quickly resolved. Loved how they prioritized each other and their friendship.

Petals and Plot Twists by Jenny Proctor is a whimsical romance that blends light magical elements with heartfelt storytelling. The novel follows Sophie Stewart, a plant enthusiast with a knack for picking the wrong guys, and her best friend, Peter. When a mysterious flower blooms in her rooftop garden—one that only appears in the presence of true love—Sophie enlists Peter's help to find her soulmate. But as the flower works its magic, Sophie begins to question if love has been right in front of her all along. This standalone book, part of the Only Magic in the Building series, is a delightful mix of humor, romance, and a touch of enchantment. Proctor's writing is charming and engaging, making it a perfect read for fans of feel-good fiction with a sprinkle of whimsy.

This is book three of this fun whimsical series and after reading book two, I was super excited to get an early copy of this one.

I thought the book was very cute and a very fun easy read. I really enjoyed the friendship between Peter and Sophie, and enjoyed seeing them get together and finding their happily ever after.

However for me I felt that there just wasn’t enough magic in the storyline, yes we had a magic soulmate flower that was pretty cool but I just wanted more magic. Of course that’s a personal want and possibly everyone else will think there was enough.

I definitely recommend that you grab this if you are looking for a cute read.

3.75*
-Dual POVs
-Light magical realism (a matchmaking building)
-Interconnected characters in the series
-Funny and lighthearted
-Best friends to lovers
-Loyal MMC who falls first

I don't read a lot of "friends to lovers" books as it usually plays out as the miscommunication or lack of communication trope which isn't my fave. This was a fun read and the ending was cute. If you like a "friends to lovers" rom-com you'll love this.

I received an ARC from NetGalley. My opinions are my own.

A flower that only blooms in the presence of true love? Yes please! Petals and Plot Twists is the perfect mix of romance and magic, and I devoured every page. Sophie Stewart is great with plants, and terrible with men. So when a mysterious flower appears in her rooftop garden, that supposedly blooms for soulmates, she sees it as her chance to finally get love right. This book is pure joy! The magic is subtle but charming, the romance is sweet but full of chemistry. If you love cozy rom coms with a sprinkle of whimsy, Petals and Plot Twists needs to be on your TBR!

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me the chance to review Petals And Plot Twists. This book was super cute and cheesy just as I hoping it would be when I requested to read it. A flower who tells you when your soulmate is near? Absolutely adorable but something was missing. 3.5 stars rounded up.

Petals and Plot Twists by Jenny Proctor is the third book in the multi-authored whimsical series - Only Magic in the Building. I've enjoyed all the books in the series so far. This was cute and swoony but the miscommunication was a little frustrating. A lovely read nonetheless. I look forward to the remaining books in the series.

This book starts out really cute and then the miscommunication of them both feeling the same way about each other starts and I didn’t really care for that, it frustrated me so much.

I dont believe ive ever read anything by her besides this but going into it I clearly should’ve realized it was in a series. Although I would argue you could definitely read as a stand alone as I did and I pretty much understood all of it and the previous couple. I enjoyed peter but I wasnt the biggest fan of the FMC. There was a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding which could be a hard pill for some to swallow but overall it was a fun read! Thanks for the ARC :)

Okay, so imagine a world where a magical flower straight-up tells you when your soulmate is near. Cute? Maybe. Cheesy? Absolutely. And that’s exactly how I felt about Petals and Plot Twists.

The story follows two longtime friends who are secretly in love with each other (cue the mutual pining and missed opportunities). Normally, I can get behind a good friends-to-lovers romance, but in this case, it just didn’t quite work for me. Maybe it was the predictability, or maybe it was that pesky, all-knowing flower putting its leafy little nose in everyone’s business.

That said, Jenny Proctor’s writing is solid, and if you do love this trope, you’ll probably have a great time. For me, though, the romance didn’t quite bloom the way I’d hoped.

Would I recommend it? If you love a little whimsy, a lot of longing, and don’t mind a touch of cheese—absolutely! If, like me, you prefer your romance with fewer supernatural botanic interventions, maybe not.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Sigh... I really don't like giving negative reviews especially about a book written by one of my favorite authors. However, I also want to share my honest opinion so here goes...

Although the idea of this story sounded good, I found it difficult to connect and care about the main characters. By the third chapter I was bored and started skimming and then finally gave up. This was surprising to me as I usually love Jenny Proctor's writing and have read and re-read some of her books multiple times. I can't put my finger on what was lacking in this story but it just didn't grab me.

I'd prefer not to rate this book but since NetGalley requires it, I'm giving two stars because I reserve the one-star rating for books that I totally hate and/or have really disgusting profanity.

For anyone who hasn't ready Jenny Proctor's books, I highly recommend the following:
- The Hawthorne Brothers series
- Absolutely Not in Love (Appies #2)
- Romancing the Grump (Appies #4)
- When Alec Met Evie (Appies #6)
- Love Off-Limits (Some Kind of Love #3)
- Once Upon a Boyband

These are all books that I own and have read and enjoyed multiple times and have on my audiobook wishlist.
