Near the end of WWII, wealthy Americans Ellis and Maddie Hyde, and Ellis' best friend Hank set sail for Scotland, landing in the village of Drumnadrochit, in a quest to find the Loch Ness Monster. Whilst Ellis and Hank try to track the monster, Maddie finds herself a world away from her privileged life in Philadelphia, and is challenged by this new situation. The novel is a romantic treat and whilst not as good as her earlier novel, Like Water for Elephants, it has a lot to recommend it.
