I have had this book on my to-be-read pile for years ... no idea why it has taken me so long to get to it but I got there in the end however, it seemed to take just as long to read it!!!
Unfortunately, I found it extremely difficult to get into it probably because the main character, Maria, was all over the place and it shifted different time frames often so it became extremely confusing for me but I persevered and finished it but I am still scratching my head!!
Subject 375 has received loads of positive reviews so I think I am in the minority but thank you to the author, HQ, HarperCollins and NetGalley for enabling me to read and share my thoughts of Subject 375.
Omg......... this book was amazing I flew threw the pages with Olympic speed I was hooked from the very first page. I found it full of twists and turns threw out and it kept me on the edge of my seat all the way threw I would defiantly recommend this book if you like a good book to keep you reading threw the night hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did
A very unusual novel, based on an interesting and clever idea. This book did, however, sometimes seem to wander, with a lot of talking with little action. The jumps between times, or memories, are slightly confusing until the reader gets to a point where things do become clear. I'm not sure the book had to be quite as long as it is, but I did enjoy it, more towards the end than the earlier part. It's a bit worrying, though!
I enjoyed this book despite it being not the usual genre I would choose. I love a good mystery and a thriller and this certainly included those along with conspiracy theory and psychological thriller as well an alternative insight to the mind of an Aspergers sufferer. Maria doesn't know if she's guilty or not of committing murder, although she is in prison for that offence. She has no memory of it. Why not? Is she mentally ill? Is it because of her Asperger's? Is she in denial? All of these aspects are covered as Maria's thoughts race. There are several timelines (which can be a bit confusing so you need to concentrate somewhat).and try and work out which one you''re in. There are obviously clues along the way but, not knowing which characters to trust, you don't know which to believe and which are significant or relevant. Of course, with hindsight, you see other things you may have missed. I like the Aspergers angle of the book too. This may not be relevant but it was one of the things that attracted me to the book (I had read The Rosie Project which gives a more humorous side of Aspergers so I was looking for one that was a little more realistic.) and this certainly was. It's very pacey and fast action so would make a good movie too. So whilst this book was slightly outside of my norm, I'm very glad I read it and will go on to read the rest in the series without hesitation.
