The story is cute overall but I have to say I kind of hated the male lead at the start but as we started to get to know him, I warmed up to him a little. The ending was a rollercoaster though, I mean I knew everything was going too great too easily and something was about to go wrong but still it was tough. The conversation that took place at the end should have happened earlier.
Cute but not really my vibe.

I loved this book from the two main characters and brilliant storyline.
Sloane the writer for a bridal magazine was literally left at the altar by her fiancé when he decided he’s changed his mind, devastated she made a promise to herself no more relationships sexual or otherwise for 12 months.
At a wedding she’s attending for her magazine she meets her boss’s son Wilder, finding him rude and arrogant she gives as good back and is not impressed with his cocky attitude he used to women fawning over him is attracted to Sloane.
The story develops as they keep meeting up at weddings and realise their attraction with Wilder making it obvious to Sloane how he feels but she is determined to stick with her 12 month rule.
With great dialogue and humour the story develops beautifully and is throughly enjoyable.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

I read this in basically one sitting, so I definitely enjoyed this. Firstly, it’s a rugby player MMC (even if he is retired) and I’m of the firm belief that there should be more rugby romances.
It’s well written and the slow burn is done really well. The characters are well developed (although Elijah grated on me quite a lot of the time) and likeable, you definitely root for Wilder and Sloane.
I’m not a huge fan of the major plot point at the end of the book, I think the relationship could have been developed, tested and established without it, but I understand how it’s used to bring things full circle for Wilder.

Overall this was a fun, bingeable read which I’d definitely recommend, especially to anyone who enjoyed 27 Dresses!

Thanks to Little Brown Book Group and Netgalley for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sloane, a bridal magazine writer still reeling from being left at the altar, is forced to step in as a bridesmaid at a wedding she’s covering. There, she has a steamy run-in with Wilder—who turns out to be her boss’s son and a groomsman in every upcoming wedding she’s assigned to. As they keep crossing paths, their flirty banter and undeniable connection complicate her vow to swear off love.

I thought the chemistry between the main characters was really good. The MMC was so kind, and I especially loved his dynamic with the FMC’s father, it added a really sweet layer to his character.

I appreciated how the characters were flawed but actively tried to work through their issues and grow as people. There was a great mixture of humor, depth, and heart.

One thing that felt a bit strange was how much emphasis there initially was on Wilder needing to be in London to take care of his brother, but then it suddenly seemed fine for him to move back to New York without much issue. The other woman twist was also a little predictable.

A fun, flirty read! The banter and connection was definitely the strongest aspect of the book.

DNF 87 pages in. I'm going to quit while I'm ahead here.

The premise of this absolutely had me hooked but the more I read the more red flags I started to notice. There's a lot of casual misogyny in Wilders POV. That combined with a few offhand comments about how Bridal isn't 'real journalism', and that you should always pick up the bill for cops or those in the armed forces... Personally, not for me.

Thank you to Piatkus and Netgalley for this e-arc.

This had a "27 Dresses" vibe which I enjoyed! It was short but sweet and I enjoyed the bridal career aspect.
There were parts that made me slightly wince (including Sloane talking about wanting to do real journalism, rather than writing for a bridal magazine), but overall it was a light read.

Jilted surprised me at first! I really enjoyed the premise and the execution of the characters, and surprisingly, the mmc Wilder had a little something about him that made him worthy of being the love interest. His push and pull with Sloane made for such a quick read. Their chemistry really made the book. For the first 20% or so of the book, I was really looking forward for the direction the book was headed in, but then it sort of becomes all dismantled, and I ended up not as enjoying it as much as I was at the beginning.

Essentially, Sloane and Wilder are pulled together at this wedding. She soon learns that Wilder is actually the son of her boss, and that she'll be working on this task (she works for a Bridal Magazine) which'll involve her seeing Wilder more often at all these weddings she'll be attending. This plot line is soon sort of forgotten about. I would've loved if it was the main part of the plot. I feel like it would've made the push and pull all the better and would've developed the story better. This part felt very chick-lit, which I loved. But it's soon done away with Wilder and Sloane almost changing characters slightly. It had to go more "serious". When the plot disregarded the wedding story lines for more of a junkyard sale of Top 10 most popular plot tropes, I became bored and it did lose my interest midway. Luckily, it was a short book, so my reading experience wasn't totally hampered by the second half.

Wilder also becomes a little too lost behind the tropes. Everything under the sun was thrown at him and it sort of blinded the cheeky side of him. He has flashbacks which I felt lacked purpose for the plot. He had so much going on, in a messy way. I feel like his Rugby side just added unnecessary points, because it never really does anything for the plot.

I did like the younger characters in the book; Wilder's brother and Sloane's niece. They were fun to read about. The side characters for the most part were fine, but then the evil Other Woman trope skidded in. In fact, I think most of the women outside of Sloane's family were demoted to Other Woman status. It just made it a bit of a tiring read. Sloane and Wilder never really go through a journey or any development, because they were already perfect. It's the other characters who were one note evil.

Overall, I did wish the plot didn't twist into such a simple route. I really enjoyed the first part and would've preferred it if Wilder and Sloane were thrown about into circumstances throughout the book. But I don't regret reading it!

This was such a great read! Reminded me a bit of 27 Dresses! I always enjoy books set in the wedding planning world and this was so fun! It had a good enemies to lovers vibe and the writing was enjoyable as well! I really enjoyed this one!
