As Lucas and Louisa navigate their way through married life, not least how they change their minds about how they wish their futures to go and what they’d like in them. Will this help bring them closer together?
Kate is still determined that after her father’s (and his floozy & offspring’s) treatment of her that she will not be under the rule of any man. If anyone is going to make any decisions regarding her life then it will be her, or is there a man who actually agrees with her!
Jeannie has been so used to looking after her siblings and her mother that she thinks it will be her lot in life especially after she had discovered about Tom’s marriage. Then tragedy strikes, what will she decide then?

I loved that the characters were recognisable from the off, my fav being Kate for her determination. It was so interesting hearing about the quakers way of life and how the Clark family look after their employees, current and past.

The tears just flowed when Will had his conversation with his mother.

I’m hoping that there will be another in this series.

The 4th book in the Clarks girls series, and another fantastic read. Catching up with Kate, Louisa and jeannie, following their lives as the ww1 is still going on. So much happening in this book I couldn’t put it down, the heartache and the loss and also the love and happiness will make you want to keep turning the pages. I hope there’s another book to follow up as it’s a great series with great characters.

Great to catch up with the girls. Louisa now married is pregnant and is finally opening up to Lucas and together they are getting stronger. Kate and Jeanie are struggling with responsibilities in work and home .
Katie finds she has a lot to consider when someone from the past makes an appearance again.
Jeanie is looking forward love but can she find it in the most unexpected place.
Brilliant ti revisit the village of Street and loving the series.

I really enjoyed this book which is set towards the end of WW1 and after. Omg there was so much heartbreak and loss but also hope, love and forgiveness. This really would have been the reality at that time. So many, fathers, uncles, brothers and husbands not coming home leaving their families broken and desperate. May Ellis did a brilliant job with this story, it was very hard to put down and had me totally gripped from the first page. I cannot wait for the next book in the series! Highly recommend.

Brilliant 4th book in this saga, not the end I expected with John, and I thought Peter may have found a girlfriend.
A sad ending for some of the characters, but not having a perfect ending made it realistic
Is this the end of the series or is there more to come
