Mr. Spencer Jordan finds a baby on his doorstep in Port Berry. Beth Horton left the baby on Spencer doorstep, but now she wants him back. Babies are not things you get rid of then want back, life does not work that way.

Brilliant to be back with the gang in Port Berry. Spencer has spent his life looking after his sister but now she’s standing in her own two feet he takes on the role of mentor to some kids who are finding life difficult and he’s happy.
Beth has taken a leap into a new life in Port Berry with her newly born son Archie but she’s struggling and to here surprise she sees the man who fathered Archie after a one night stand. In a moment of madness she leaves Archie with him, but she discovers she needs to be with him
Spencer and Beth navigate the pitfalls of co parenting but can they make it something more.

So, we have Spencer, whose life gets turned upside-down when he finds a baby (!!!) on his doorstep with a note saying, “Congrats, you’re a dad!” And then we have Beth, the struggling single mom who, in a moment of desperation, leaves her baby with Spencer, thinking he’ll provide a better life. Naturally, guilt and motherly instincts pull her back.

It was a touching journey of self-acceptance, growth, and learning to embrace life's unexpected twists. The mental health representation was handled with care, and I really admired how Beth’s struggles with postnatal anxiety and trauma were acknowledged rather than brushed aside. The characters, on their own, were well fleshed out—I got a solid sense of who Spencer and Beth were as individuals, which made their personal arcs feel genuine and meaningful.

Now, onto the romance. Here’s where I might be a little bit of an outlier. WHERE WAS THE SPARK?! 😭 I wanted to feel that slow burn, that tension, those butterflies. Instead, every time Beth and Spencer were in a room together, I felt... nothing. I loved them separately, but together? It felt more like two co-parents figuring out logistics rather than a love story that made me swoon.

And then we have the third-act breakup… WHY?!! 😫 Nothing kills my vibe faster than a breakup that feels unnecessary, and this one felt so avoidable. About Beth’s panic attacks…listen, I totally understand that healing isn’t linear, but the speed at which she seemed to recover felt a little too fast to be realistic.

That being said, the book was a heartwarming story, and I still found moments to enjoy. The setting of Port Berry was adorable, the side characters were endearing, and if you love a story about second chances, there’s definitely something here to appreciate.

Lovely uplifting story about love, happiness and being kind. Exactly what the world needs these days. I actually think reading books like this should be mandatory! Highly recommend this one, and hope you enjoy it as much as I did

This was a great read that was just what I needed. It does reference heavy topics, childbirth trauma, child hood traumas, anxiety, PTSD, etc. , but it also covers overcoming those challenges and standing up for yourself and bettering your mental health. I enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading others in the series.

Another story set in Port Berry, this time around Spencer. He has made great progress since his sister's accident but is thrown for a loop when Beth shows up. A nice story about resilience and community. Reads fine alone though part of a lovely series.
