This started off slowly, and I didn’t feel overly attached to the characters but as i got through it I found it to be better. It was an all round cute read and one that I wasn’t expecting to be emotional, however towards the end I was tearing up and come on- any book that makes you cry is a winner!!
I’m glad I kept at this as it was worth it!!
Thank you @netgalley and Kiah Thomas for letting me read this! I will definately be stocking in my shop

one of the cutest romance books i’ve ever read.

i loved the premise of having an author and bookseller on tour. that and the enemies to lovers? sign me up.

clarrie going through her own personal issues was written really well. i loved seeing how declan tried to help and was so willing to listen when she opened up to him.

i loved the side characters - the knitting group, yumi, bri and jed - and how much they all cared for declan and clarrie.

the little plot twist at the end actually got me and made me laugh so much.

i’ll definitely be reading more from this author as their writing style was so fast paced and easy to read!

An excellent read for any and all readers! Author comes at you with both barrels and knocks you out of your shoes! Great job fleshing out all the characters. I give this book FIVE stars! Definitely recommend!

This was a nice light read, something easy to get through with a sweet plot.

The writing style was nice, but the pacing felt a bit off. Basically nothing happened between the main characters until like 65-70% of the way through? Like the tension between them didn’t feel particularly high, and the connection was a bit lacklustre at times. I would have liked a bit more of the romance throughout the book, and not just all at the end.

That said, there were some nice emotional moments, and the FMC went on a bit of a self discovery journey which was nice to watch unfold. I’d actually say the romance is secondary to her journey.

The book was charming in places, and overall was cute, but I just wanted a bit…more.

3.5/5, rounded down as it’s more of a 3 than a 4

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC

This is a beautiful, clean romance, that will end sooner than you expect. I find this book was really well paced, and didn’t drag at any part, and was a nice slow build. To be honest I wouldn’t say it’s an enemies to lovers romance, as they’re never truly enemies, there’s just a slight bit of dislike. There are a few small mysteries which are cleared up by the end, and the ending is most satisfactory. It’s definitely worth a read if you have a spare couple hours

Thank you netgallery and Headline for the arc it was a light read but the pacing was a bit slow for me it’s about main character gets a bookstore from her grandma and facing lots of problems with the store she mets a author when she really having a bad day he’s there to ask to sign his books basically tells him write a better book long short story they they met again 2 years later with him when he
promote his new book which is a best seller with name talking to the trees ( the book sounds so boring with that name lol) but anyway the romance I should what romance nope in it till near the end but it seen a bit fake if you are looking for romance when this book isn’t it, it was more of the main character self belief’s and working towards then the writing style was good it was good overall 3.5 stars

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the Arc of Love on a Bookshelf.

This was a sweet charming story of self discovery for our main character Clarrie. I really enjoyed her and found myself wanting to hug her. Despite feeling sad and lost most of the book she intrigued me. Her devotion to her grandmother pulled at my heartstrings, her light friendship with Yumi was fun and the building romance with Archer had promise.

There were a number of perfect moments where i found myself smiling. The characters were all different and I liked their interactions and individual arcs. Having said that, the pacing of the book was too slow. I found myself skimming parts till things picked up a bit. The super slow-burn romance did not bother me but could have had a few more sparks. I think this story just needed a little more energy.

Overall, I think this is a decent debut novel for Kiah Thomas.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC of Love on a Bookshelf!

As a huge fan of slow-burn romance, I was excited to dive into this story, but unfortunately, the pacing didn’t quite work for me. While I enjoyed the premise and the bookish setting, the romance itself felt like it took too long to truly develop. We didn’t get much in terms of tension or angst between the main characters until about 70% in, which made it hard to stay fully invested in their connection.

That being said, I did appreciate the writing style and the quieter moments of emotional depth. The characters had potential, and I enjoyed their individual arcs, but I just wanted more from their relationship earlier on—more chemistry, more longing, and more of that heart-racing tension that makes a slow burn so satisfying.

Overall, this book had a sweet premise and some charming moments, but the pacing left me wanting a stronger emotional pull earlier in the story. If you love an extra slow burn, this might be for you, but I personally prefer a bit more angst sprinkled throughout.

This was the perfect light read if you're looking for something fun and pretty carefree. Clarrie runs Brook's Books, the bookstore her grandmother signed over to her, but there are a lot of issues with the shop, such as the power, which causes the lighting to go out occasionally. This is when she meets Declan Archer, the author of a new book, who manages to catch Clarrie on what is one of the worst days of her life. Clarrie isn't in the mood for Declan, who's come to sign some of his new books, and tells him to write a better book.

Skip two years later, and guess who's back? And with a better book in tow, which has been helpfully dedicated to the very bookseller who told him to write something better. Clarrie is mortified, especially when the new book turns out to be a bestseller, with people equally interested in the book and the author. She's thrown in the deep end when Decland, begrudgingly, asks her to go on a publicity tour to sell his books whilst he gives talks. She doesn't want to do this, but she needs to find the money to keep the bookstore open and do repairs. As you can imagine, the story writes itself from there.

There was nothing too intense with this story, and it was written well to the point the pages flew past. This is definitely a bonus point for it, but I do feel like it was more of a self-discovery book than a true romance. There's nothing wrong this that, obviously, but I was expecting more romance and sparks to fly. By the end of the book, I didn't really feel like Declan and Clarrie had a believable romantic connection with each other, particularly as it only takes place over two weeks. What did happen was Clarrie discovering herself and what she wants, not just what others around her expect, and also coming to terms with having the legacy of her grandparent's bookshop and learning that it's okay to adapt and move forward.

I didn't particularly understand why Declan's book was so famous, as it sounded pretty boring to me, and there were brief attempts at some drama, which frankly felt unnecessary given how quickly they were resolved. Either way, it was an enjoyable read as long as you're not looking for something swimming in romance!

I enjoyed this book. I loved reading how Clarrie & Declan fell for each other over the 2 week book tour. I also liked Bri, Jed, and Yumi. Her mother was HORRIBLE.

This was such a cute romance especially for bookish readers. I highly enjoyed the chemistry between Bruno author Declan as well as relatable MC Carrie. This would make such a fun movie in addition to the book and I highly
Enjoyed it!

I thought this was an exceptional book and I laughed, cried and rooted for Clarrie and Declan the entire way through.
Aside from the romance and humour, this is a book that celebrates books, reading and bookshops- three of my favourite things. Declan is an author, Clarrie a bookseller and their first encounter does not go smoothly. Clarrie suggests Declan write a better book, which he does and dedicates to her, anonymously.
This starts them on an interesting path- one where they argue, smoulder and perhaps begin to actually fall for each other. In amidst this, they must survive a two week book tour together in the wilds.
There are some truly funny moments, a fantastic cast of characters and a deeply felt love of books.
I would read this again and again and will not hesitate to recommend it to library users when it publishes!
