This was a cute read! A light, easy-breezy and fun and perfect for summer.
I didn't really connect too deeply with the characters, but I still really enjoyed this overall.

Another excellent book from this author. Had me laughing out loud from the first page. Follows a genuinely lovely woman through the ups and downs of finding the right person for her. This book is funny, heartwarming you won’t want to put it down. Perfect holiday read

This one was just pure feel-good fun. Love, Accidentally is light, charming, and the kind of rom-com that makes you smile without even realizing it. The characters are quirky in a lovable way, and while it’s not super deep, sometimes you just want a cozy, sweet escape—and this totally hits that spot. Great pick for when you’re in the mood for something uplifting.

Thank you Phoebe MacLeod and NetGalley for this eARC.

When A&E (Emergency Room) nurse, Tilly, meets the new junior doctor at her hospital, she thinks he may be her one. Without giving too much away, sometimes friends and sisters know best....

This book took me a while to get into. I enjoyed the dynamics between Tilly and many of the side characters, such as Matt and Johnothan. Can we talk about Tilly's mom?! There is a reason Tilly has been in toxic relationships and her mom may be that reason.
3/5 Stars

The premise of the book is great but the actual plot… it’s a flat line (medical pun intended)
I’m use to dry British humor from living in Scotland but it wasn’t even humor it was just people being snarky.
I kept waiting for rom-com, com never came and the rom… well, it was drier than the humor. (Another pun for you!)
I won’t spoil it but the book is kinda broken into two romances
The first- a ponce, it’s over quickly, it’s all red flags from the get go.
The second- barely even made sense for the characters.

In my opinion it would have worked better if the FMC, who herself wasn’t a bad character, just stopped dating for keeps, found happiness with her friends, working in her career, engaging with her family and burying the hatchet.
Then in the last few chapters she can get asked out and go on a date as a fully formed person. Ready to go all in.
Sometimes you need to love yourself and what you have before you can love others.
But the forced romance?

OK, I thought about it all night- 7am edit
I changed my review from two stars to three stars, I really really liked the characters of Jonathan and Will. I wish the book was more about them and from the point of view of their lives than Polly‘s..

It started out to be a promising medical romance, However, suddenly the story took a turn that I wasn’t expecting, and even thought plot twists are usually great, I didn’t enjoy this at all,
Characters lacked a bit of depth for me and the second romantic interest lacked chemistry and felt rushed. :/ It could have been an easy medical romance, but I feel like there were many things to cover and they all felt half-way developed.

I really wanted to love this book, the plot sounded so good and i was so excited.
Sadly it fell flat for me.
the romance felt like it just randomly started and then we were speeding towards the end of the book. i feel like there was no build up or chemistry between the two characters. we also didn't get any character development in the book which was sad because i was hoping we could get more emotional development. This probably could have been split as two short books rather than one big one because thats honestly how it read. But we barely get much of the characters that the romance is supposedly between, instead it focuses on side plots more than the main plot.

The characters were great & relatable - I particularly liked the main character Tilly & Dr Patel. The humour was great throughout. I liked the hospital setting as well. The chapters were pretty short, so I found it an easy read. Some of the characters had some challenges and I thought this was dealt with well.
My review is due on Instagram 5th June!

A fun workplace romance! I enjoyed the romance and comedy, as well as the medical aspect of the story! I do wish Tilly had more of a character arc though. But a cute fluffy read nonetheless and I recommend!

I love a good workplace romance - especially when it starts off by giving me Grey’s Anatomy vibes! But this one really fell short.

I felt like everything between the characters was so rushed, and there was a LOT of emotional immaturity in everyone. That makes connecting to the characters and stories very difficult.

I was also expecting “more” in the s*x scenes, but these were just barely brushed over and then moved on from.

———

Tilly works in A&E at the hospital doing shift work. She meets a man that she seems to really like and spends a lot of time with him when he isn’t taking care of his sick mother.

Eventually we learn that his mother isn’t actually sick and that he has a wife at home with a baby on the way.

During this time Tilly has a patient that tried to commit suicide, and his son coming in to take care of him until he’s released. Tilly ends up spending a lot of time with the patient, and eventually once he leaves, he invites her over for Sunday dinners.

Tilly and Will hit it off and end up falling in love.

I’ll start off by saying that the author did a great job with the characters in this book because the main character of Tilly is someone many readers can relate to. I liked reading her story and about her personal life and adventures in her workplace. It was interesting to read about some of the cases they had to tend to in their ward. Unfortunately what didn’t work for me was the plot; the story seemed all over the place with too many storylines and pacing issues. There were scenes when it felt like it was constantly describing what was happening versus showing not telling. I also thought the romance was too slow at first and suddenly it felt too rushed and before you knew it the book was over. I wanted this to be a high rated book especially since I had the privilege of reading the authors previous book: Hook, Line and Single which I loved! I think with some more editing and revisions this has the potential to be a very successful book but as it is now it just fell flat for me sadly.

“Love, Accidentally” is a rom-com by Phoebe MacLeod. This book follows Tilly, an A&E (Emergency Room for those in the US) nurse. Tilly falls in insta-lust with new junior doctor, Luke, and they are a couple quicker than quick. The romance fizzles out before 30% of the book is finished - bit of a surprise in a rom-com. Another character - at first minor - becomes Tilly’s potential love interest - but is it reciprocated? There were a number of things to like in this book - the banter between Tilly and Dr. Patel was great as sometimes you need dry wit to get through a medical shift and the hospital setting was also interesting. I found some of the dialogue a bit awkwardly stiff - or maybe not sounding like actual conversations, but maybe that’s just me. Overall, this was a quick read - not great, not bad - but I’m not sure in a few weeks I’ll remember it. However, for quick escapism and a quick read, this was pretty good.

This book follows Tilly a young nurse working in A&E (british for ER) and her dating life. A new doctor -Luke- starts working in A&E and asks her out. They start a relationship but Luke also has his elderly mother he has to take care of... or does he?
I liked reading the story and following Tilly in her workplace and private life. It was very entertaining to read about some of the cases they had to treat in A&E. I really liked Tilly's character but I couldn't really relate to most of the other characters in the book. I also thought that the relationship part was too slow burn at first and then it was very hurried: like first kiss and boom - epilogue.
Still it was an entertaining and funny book.

Love Accidentally

Love, Accidentally follows the story of Tilly, an A&E (emergency department) nurse. As an ED nurse myself, I jumped at the chance to read this romance novel!

I loved many of the characters in this story, & I would love to hang out with Tilly. She’s a badass nurse, she’s fiercely loyal and kind, & a little bit messy (like many of us ER nurses, haha). Phoebe MacLeod nailed that part.

As far as the plot goes, I found this book to be all over the place, much like a busy emergency department. I felt that there was too many story lines, & loose endings to tie up, causing the last third of the book to flatline. I almost signed out AMA, but Tilly convinced me to stay.

Code status: DNR.

Love, Accidentally by Phoebe MacLeod aspires to be a lighthearted romantic comedy, but it falls short of delivering a compelling narrative. The premise holds promise, yet the execution lacks the depth and charm needed to engage readers fully. The storyline feels rushed, and the characters are not sufficiently developed to elicit empathy or investment in their journey.

The dialogue often comes across as forced, lacking the wit and authenticity that could have brought the characters to life. Interactions between protagonists feel scripted rather than organic, making it difficult to believe in their chemistry or root for their relationship. Additionally, the plot relies heavily on clichés without offering a fresh perspective, resulting in a predictable and uninspiring read.

While MacLeod has demonstrated her ability to craft engaging stories in her other works, Love, Accidentally does not showcase her strengths. The novel's shortcomings in character development and narrative originality make it a less satisfying experience compared to her previous books. For readers new to MacLeod's writing, this may not be the best introduction to her storytelling capabilities.

This was a fun read that I got through in a couple of sittings. The predictable outcome with the main love interest didn't detract from reading how it developed. I might liked to have seen more of a comeuppance for the terrible doctor but that might be outwith the Romance genre tropes.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

"Love, Accidentally" by Phoebe MacLeod is a delightful romantic comedy that takes readers on a fun and heartwarming journey. The story revolves around Tilly, an accident and emergency room nurse, who finds herself questioning her single life when her surroundings change. The introduction of Dr. Luke brings excitement and distraction to Tilly's world, but as they grow closer, she begins to question if he is the right fit for her. MacLeod’s writing style is engaging, filled with humor, and relatable characters that will keep you hooked until the end. With a perfect blend of romance and comedy. Thank you for the early Arc!

I enjoyed this, it was a quick easy read, whilst lying on a sun lounger and enjoying the amazing weather.

Tilly and her sister Tash were great, and I also enjoyed the characters of Will and his father. Not so much the girl’s mother, she was definitely too OTT for me

A lighthearted, brilliantly written book with a fabulous cast of characters. I did find it a story of two halves and it took me a minute to get into but once I did the pages flew by. With plenty of chemistry and tummy tumbling moments to satisfy any romance addict i would highly recommend for fans of Portia Macintosh, Maxine Morrey and Christy Mckellen.

It's rare for me not to have many thoughts on things, but well, here we are.

This is not a feel-good romantic comedy. This is medical/general drama with some mentions of romantic relationships. I feel lied to, which I don't particularly enjoy, so I can't rate it more than 3/5, even though the writing itself is decent and quite interesting. It did the same number that "The Switch" by Beth O'Leary did (I'm still sore about that). The romance is so unimportant that it's barely described compared to everything else, so even when you actually get to it, you get so little - and it's so general - that it's kind of sad. I wouldn't call this a romance, or at least wouldn't paint it as the main genre.

I think the author would make a fun scriptwriter for medical TV series, because that's what I enjoyed the most - the drama, the cases, the relations between employees. The rest is kind of meh, I'm sorry.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the ARC!
