Judging by the reviews in this book, Tookey does not like special effects driven movies, brainless comedies, dramas, romances, anything that even hints at the avant-garde, or Mel Gibson films. After getting through this book I'm struggling to imagine what kind of movies Tookey does like.

There are many bad movies reviewed here and Tookey's dislike of them is more than warranted, but I found his reviews mean-spirited. What really put the nail in the coffin for me was his review of David Cronenberg's CRASH: I completely understand why people do not like the film, but Tookey not only clearly didn't get the point of it, his call to ban it was both idiotic and far more offensive than anything in the movie.

Skip this one and read any collection of Roger Ebert's reviews instead.
