(I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)

This genre-bending eBook bundle proves that not only is Karin Slaughter “one of the best crime novelists in America” (The Washington Post), she’s one of today’s very best writers, period. From the hallucinatory noir novella Go Deep to the twisted short stories “Necessary Women” and “Remmy Rothstein Toes the Line,” this collection showcases the New York Times bestselling author’s dark humor, limitless imagination, and masterly command of voice and character.

Let me start by saying that the 2nd and 3rd stories in this collection are average at best, depressing at worst. So I will focus on the first story, Go Deep, in this review.

Taking up about half of the total length of this book, Go Deep is quite a departure from what you would normally expect to see from a Karin Slaughter story. Sure, the quality and style are there but the themes and content are far different. The story itself has a Twilight Zone feel to it. The upshot of the novel is what happens to chauvinistic, abusive, utter cretins when their time has come - not necessarily in a physical way (I guess you just have to read it to find out...")

As a collection, it's not the best and only three stories does make it a bit of a time-waster kind of book. 120 pages or so does not a short story collection make.

Go Deep

What a great humdinger of a story was this!
This is about Charlie. He owns a car dealership, has a wife, daughter who love to spend his hard earned money.

He has a girlfriend on the side and nearly 70 employees.
A very busy man.

There is a fast paced unexpected crime that will happen that will knock your socks off.

Necessary Women

A 14 year old girl watches her Mother die in poverty. Her Dad is a truck driver who is gone for long periods before he goes to his next destination.
She tells her dad about a boy she likes however her Mother wants her to stay away from him.

She explains how she got pregnant with her and hadn't fulfilled her dreams.
She wants more for her daughter and for her not to end up like her living the life she had.

Father and daughter has tricks up their sleeve that are full of dark humor and will surprise you.

Remmy Ruthstein tows the line

Mindy is searching for Remmy when she meets his half brother, then his Mother, then a facial hairy nasty old woman.
This was an hilariously fun read.
Clever and ingenious.
The longest tongue in the world.
