Another gripping novel by Lehane. Interestingly, I haven't read many of his books, but those that I have read are all interesting, gripping, and entertaining (in their ways). I normally read gangster/crime novels set in the present (or near-present), so I enjoyed this historical setting. I didn't realize, when I read it, that it was the third novel to feature Coughlin, but I've since gone back to pick up the other two: The Given Day and Live By Night.

If you like gangster plots then World Gone By is definately for you. Took me a long time to get round to reading it but pleased that I eventually did. Although I'm not normally into gngster type novels, this was a great read
