I honestly found this book really hard to follow. I finished it to see it to the end but I was lost. I had to reread several paragraphs to try to understand what was going on. The MC John would go on tangents, and it threw me off from the main story. If you enjoy weird literature, this book is for you!

Little weird, definitely good. This was a genre blending exploration of characters and what it means to be human and good.

Had I known this book was weird lit, I would have not requested it, as I cannot get into books that are from this genre. Unfortunately, I had to stop reading this book halfway through, because I know that if I had continued it I would have given it an unfairly low rating. But that's on me, not on the books.

I think that fans of the weird lit genre, especially those who enjoyed Jeff Vandermeer and Tade Thompson will absolutely have fun with this book. The premise is very interesting: an asteroid is about to hit and destroy the Earth, and an unlikely group of people slowly bands together to save humanity. But that is just the forefront of the plot, as this book explores very modern and relevant themes, such as human trafficking, discrimination and slavery... though it does so through aliens instead of humans.

What makes this book special, and what I think would truly attract the right kind of reader, is its dream-like quality. Reading this book is an experience in itself, as very little is explained and we travel through time and through characters. Often things are not explained, and the reader is transported and learns as they go - which is fun if you don't feel the need to understand everything that happens.

Do give a chance to this book if you're into weird-lit and are up for a wild ride!
