This is a really engaging book to read with a little one. The words bounce about the page and change colour and made my little one want to know what the words were and what they were saying. The book covers the house, the pictures on the refrigerator, cats, the park the annoying brother and why maybe, usually means no! Each chapter is so short and so the book can be broken up over different nightly reads and if there is a favourite you can go back to it time after time for little snippets. The pictures and bright and bold and help move the stories along.

Okay, this book is adorbs! 😍 I picked it up thinking I’d just peek at a few poems—and then boom! I was totally sucked into a swirl of silly school stuff, family chaos, and cute-as-a-button drawings. It’s got major “read it out loud” energy and I legit laughed out loud more than once. If your kiddo (or inner kiddo) needs a joy boost, When Will I Ever Learn totally delivers. 📚🎉💫

Light playful art, and snarky but fun poems about childhood. There are some fun Shel Silverstein vibes in this one. It is perhaps a bit more linguistically simple than Silverstein (less metaphor, analogy, personification, etc), but the lightheartedness and mischievousness are still there in full force.

A humorous poetry book for children that hits on many of the challenges of growing up

The concept is 5 stars. Poems about milestones, skills and challenges of growing up is amazing.
The poems themselves are mixed bag - this is subjective to some extent.
The illustrations are also a mixed bag. Some are relevant and cool as in the cover, some not so much. Part of this is also subjective.
Overall, a good approach to encourage children and make them heard. Also a witty approach which is entertaining.
