I never thought I’d enjoy a zombie/apocalypse novel — but Dating After the End of the World by Jeneva Rose completely proved me wrong. Think Hallmark-like romance meets zombie outbreak — and yes, it works so well.
From the very first page, I was hooked. This book made me laugh, cry, and feel every emotion in between. One moment I was grinning at the banter, the next I was unexpectedly emotional — especially during Chapter 40, which absolutely wrecked me in the most beautiful way. It was tender, heartfelt, and packed with meaning — a moment I’ll be thinking about for a long time.
What makes this book so special is how clearly Jeneva’s voice shines through. Her humor, heart, and honesty come alive on every page. The premise grabbed me instantly: a doomsday-prepper dad builds a survival compound, and when the apocalypse hits, his now-adult daughter (a doctor) returns… only to find her high school bully has also taken shelter there. What follows is a perfect blend of romance, redemption, and survival.
The zombie elements were compelling, but the real strength of this book lies in the relationships. The banter between Casey and Blake had me smiling the whole way through, and the dynamic between Casey and Tessa was just as delightful. I tore through it in one sitting — it's that good.
I recommend everything Jeneva Rose writes, but this book is something truly special. If you're looking for a story full of heart, humor, and hope — with a little undead chaos thrown in — this is it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for my ARC!

This book is nothing like anything else Jeneva has written. 100000/10 it was the most unhinged wild ride of a book l've ever read. The story line had me in a... oh my gosh what's about to happen next through the whole book. You definitely will not be disappointed with this one!

‘There’s nothing like the undead to bring the living together in an action-packed and apocalyptically romantic genre-shattering novel by a New York Times bestselling author.’
I’m so truly sorry. But this didn’t work for me at all. The first half was okay, but the second half flailed hard. It seemed as though the already fragile grip on character depth & development, pace and plausibility was completely surrendered and defeat was conceded.
Thanks to Montlake for this arc in exchange for review.

came for the zombies because who wouldn't, but stayed for the story.
It was predictable, but that doesn't make it bad. I love a good book when I know I'm not going to be throwing it at the wall in absolute despair.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montclair for the ARC! Jeneva has amazing wit that lends to fun couples but the story was a little tropey. The setting was fantastic, a romcom set during my a zombie apocalypse, but the actual romance plot was predictable. I would’ve liked a more modern twist, but it was still an enjoyable romp!

jeneva rose is a queen and I’ll read anything in any genre by her! THANK YOU for the opportunity to read an early copy! ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT ! JENEVA DOES NO WRONG!

I ran so fast to get this ARC as I’ve read most of Jeneva Rose’s books and also happen to be obsessed with apocalyptic shows and zombies! This was such a fun book!
Casey grew up with a prepper father and holds so much resentment for not having a typical childhood. She leaves home to become a doctor, never looking back again until that fateful day at the hospital when all hell breaks loose and people start turning into zombies.. She heads home to her father hoping for safety only to run into Blake her arch nemesis.
This book was truly action packed from beginning to end. A fun wild ride. We’ve got action, romance, betrayal, zombies. But do we have a happy ending?

First and foremost, you cannot take this book too seriously, obviously. It's about a zombie apocalypse and is also an enemies to lovers romance, for goodness sakes. It's funny and a very unique story. It also has some badass fight scenes, we love strong women who can hold their own. There were some parts of the romance that annoyed me, the hate to like to hate to love got old, especially with how wishy washy Casey was. She was too trusting one minute and the complete opposite the next. I really loved Blake and her dad, pretty much all of the characters were great besides Nate. There were also some questions I was left with but overall it's an unserious story about finding love while the world is burning around you, oh and zombies are just casually trying to eat you 😂
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the perfect apocalypse love story! This author never ceases to amaze me! So good!
The storyline is very surprising and deviates from the author’s previous thrillers.

Instant new favorite. This book has it all. Romance. Suspense. Zombies. This will be one to go and reread many times

I never thought I would ever enjoy a zombie/apocalypse book — but "Dating After the End of the World" by Jeneva Rose completely proved me wrong. From the very first page, I was hooked. This book made me laugh, cry, and feel every emotion in between. One moment I was smiling, the next I was tearing up — especially during the Drumstick ice cream scene, which absolutely broke me in the most beautiful way.
What makes it even more special is how you can feel Jeneva's personality shining through every page — her humor, her heart, and her unique voice all make this story unforgettable. She somehow took a genre I usually avoid and made it something deeply emotional, wildly entertaining, and full of hope.
I super recommend this book to anyone, even if you think zombie stories aren't your thing — trust me, this one is different in the best way possible. ❤️

Thank you NetGalley & Jeneva Rose for the opportunity to read this ARC. I am a huge Jeneva Rose fan and was so excited to get to read this book.
This was a good read. I could not put it down. I can’t wait to purchase the physical copy.

Thank you for letting me read this arc book! Jeneva Rose is one of my favorite authors, and while this isn't the type of book I usually gravitate toward, I was hooked from the very first page. The writing pulled me in, and I couldn't stop turning the pages. The way she portrayed the world and what it had become was so vivid-I could picture every detail and every character. The twists and turns kept me fully engaged, Casey and Blake's relationship felt real-messy, heartfelt, and beautifully layered. I loved how the story unfolded with past and present wove together. Every character added something special to the story, and I truly hope there's a sequel. As usual she always leaves you wanting more.

I’m not normally one for a zombie book but this one had me hooked from the beginning. Jeneva is one of my favorite authors so I knew I had to try it anyways. It was a fun, intense read. A twist you never see coming and very intense moments where you hold your breath! I loved it thank you for this ARC!

Quirky, Fun, Heartbreaking, and Fast paced.....everything you would expect and want at the end of the world! I ate this book up so quickly and loved every minute of it....except the part people died (haha). Highly recommend if you want a Doomsday meets Hallmark story

A Hallmark movie, with zombies!
I'm usually not into romance but I love post apocalyptic stories, so I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised.
It's an easy read, and pretty entertaining.
The structure of the story is a bit predictable and the characters lack some depth, but with the action, the gore, and the will-they-won't-they, it still works.
Thank you Montlake for this ARC!

The premise hooked me right away- doomsday-pepper dad builds a compound, so when the apocalypse happens he has everything he and his daughter need. His now older doctor daughter returns to the compound only to find her high school bully is hunkering down. Overall the zombie scenes were well written, and it felt like a book you could easily read in one sitting. I liked the banter, though I do wish there had been more lead up from the prepping to the apocalypse itself. It felt like a book that could be a series if the author wanted. Appreciate the advance read!
