The Broken Blade was a fine wrap up the the Knight of Elderan series by Anna Thayer. An epic fantasy saga in the style of Tolkien full of adventure, allegory, danger and a hint of romance. Eamon is one of the best developed fantasy protaganists I have "met" in ages. His character development isn't complete in Book One and continues in the second book.

Eamon's struggles between his loyalty to the King and his draw to the evil crowned are plausible. He's truly torn between doing what is right, and simply trying to survive. This finally comes to a head in this novel, when the King and Throned wage all-out war upon one another. With everything at stake, and the final battle in store who will win and who will make the right choice? Will it even do them any good.

Thayer managed to deliver a wonderful conclusion with this tale.
