This was a super quick read that was quirky and fun. I liked the theme park setting and how the author portrayed the characters.

Have you ever wondered what is happening behind the scenes at an amusement park? The drama, the hot goss, the employee relations?
Vanessa is the new boss, and Thomas is secretly trying to rally the workers into a union. Whose side with Vanessa end on?
This was a cute book, was very rushed at the beginning, but overall had a different storyline than I usually go towards.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review this ALC.

When I saw this cover, I was just drawn to this book. What I thought would be a romance with theme park vibes actually became a deeper story of union rights. Made me think about popular amusement parks and what workers might experience. It's supposed to be a romance story, but I don't get a romantic feel from this book. It felt more like a side story than anything else and then felt rushed. Overall the book was interesting but just okay.

I listened to this on audio and I loved the narrator.

I also enjoyed the way the author described the setting. The descriptions of each scene through the book were whimsical. I could picture myself at the theme park eating caramel corn on a bench while sitting and watching all of the fun around me.

Given this, the dialogue was uninspired. More detail was given to describing the scenes around the characters than what was happening between the characters themselves. This is supposed to be a romance. There's hardly any words used to describe them looking at each other, touching, or them seemingly being interested in each other outside of their work. No sideways glances, no tension, nothing.

"It would be too easy to banter with Thomas."

Exactly! That's what this needed; a little witty conversation to lighten things up. I loved his grumpiness, but this story needed her to give some sass back to balance him out. She's too careful with her words around him, too polite.

This book was all business and hardly any romance. It had a good premise that I was excited to read about, but was more about the events happening around the characters, leaving very little room for romance.

I had a hard time getting through the ALC of Roller Coaster Romance. The cover is adorable and was what originally caught my attention. Because the audiobook was on the shorter side, I decided to stick with it and finish. While the concept had a lot of potential, the story didn’t fully come together for me. I found it a bit slow at times, but I appreciate the author's creativity and the idea behind the book.

Roller Coaster Romance was a bit of a wet noodle for me. I found that it lacked depth and the ride was over before it even got going. I thought it was going to be a nice fun romance-taking place in a themepark? check.; a redeemable "bad" guy? ehh yeah check (think Dwight Shrute in the last season of The Office); Attempting to unionize for fair treatment? check; An overall fun and eventful romance? ehhhh.

I think it was a good effort, and it is great to have on in the background while doing dishes or laundry. It is still enjoyable even if it fell pretty short for me!

A big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me access to the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

It was fun to discover this made up work of a theme park, and as a HUGE Disney fan, I loved the description of the parks.

Definitely NOT a simple HEA here, but enjoyable with well fleshed out characters.

We meet Vanessa as she is interviewing for a management position at Destiny Park. She has no idea that Thomas, an employee there, is quietly working to unionize the park's workers. As they work against each other, chemistry sparks, and two people on opposites sides start to pull toward each other.
This was a VERY quick listen, at less than 5 hours total, I was able to listen in one sitting, and enjoyed it, although I was expecting more whimsy and romance.

This is a wonderful, quick read/listen. Set in a theme park in need of good management and a pending union vote love blossoms between a new manager and a union organizer as they stick it to the man (professionally, of course). The story was interesting and made you think without being taxing or preachy. The narrator was good but there were times when she didn’t switch between characters at the right times so it got a little muddled. Overall, it was a great book.

A great short listen! I loved being sucked into the drama of employees vs leadership and the theme park was an unique setting. I liked how the FMC stood up for justice even when it wasn’t the easy path, great representation of a strong female in a leadership role. I would like to see a bit more story development but for the length of this read I think it was good. This is definitely a more plot based read and romance takes the backseat. With this being a dual pov book I think the narrator did a great job reading both sides and had a great range in voices. Give this audiobook a listen when it releases on June 17th 2025.

Vanessa just got her dream job working at Destiny Park. She will be running the Legacy area, what she didn’t realize is she was walking into an interesting situation. The employees were fighting to unionize and would be voting in less than a month. Leadership was strongly opposed to this change and Vanessa was now thrown in the middle.

Thomas is leading the unionization efforts for Destiny employees. He was attracted to his new boss and he’s been tasked with training her on the attractions within Legacy area. As they grew closer he wasn’t sure where she stood and if he could trust her. Then after a manger meeting he realized she was more than she appeared.

Vanessa would do everything she could to fight the good fight but as tensions rise doing the right thing may cost her the dream job she just got.

ALC review

"Roller Coaster Romance" by Kate Moseman is a short contemporary romance.

I received an Audio ARC provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op (via Netgalley).
Opinions from this review are completely my own.

Vanessa is a new manager in the Destiny Park and Thomas is one of the employees.

What you can expect:
- theme park
- boss/employee
- he falls first
- costumes
- dual POV (3rd person)

The audiobook is narrated by Angelina Rocca and she does a good job.
Since the story have dual POV, I would have liked to have another narrator to be able to differenciate better the perspectives.

Even if this is a romance, main part of the plot is about the employees trying to get a union and ask for better conditions.
I liked that Vanessa was trying to help the employees even if she also needed to side with her employer.
She gets closer with Thomas while working together as he is assigned to show her the park.

Overall this was a quick read with sweet interractions and humour, but there was not enough romantic side as I would have expected (especially considering the title).

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC audio for this book. My opinion is freely given and my own.

I really liked the narrator choice for this story.

This is a cute, contemporary romance that was a quick, palette cleanser. It follows Vanessa, a newly employed manager at a theme park and Thomas, an employee. The romance of this book is not the main feature, it is level with that of the union plot line but is it enjoyable and was fun to listen to.

Vanessa and Thomas were enjoyable characters, making following the development of their β€œto lovers” interesting.

It may not be the book for someone looking for a strong romance story, but for someone who is looking for something short(ish) and sweet, not entirely focused on love and easy to read/listen to.

Quick little workplace romance read. Vanessa gets her dream job as a manager at a large theme park and meets Thomas, who is in charge of training her on the various aspects of the theme park attractions. He is also trying to unionize the employees, which is somethings Vanessas bossess do not want to see happen,
