Monroe Morgan was raised by a drug addicted mother and never knew who his father was. He is determined to escape the life he grew up with and has gotten a job away from his small Australian town as soon as he turns 18. But a month before he is set to leave, his life takes a turn when his neighbor Indi shows up at his door battered and scared for her life. Her family is part of a cult called The Church of Salvation and she is being forced to marry the pastor against her will. Monroe is worried for Indi's safety and quickly plans to take her with him when he leaves.
On the morning of their escape, Monroe is woken by Indi's screams from next door. He rushes to the house and has a violent confrontation with Indi's father, resulting in Monroe's arrest. The neighbor insists he doesn't have a daughter and a doctor declares that Monroe has had drug-induced psychosis and he has imagined Indi, sending Monroe away for a year stay in Rozelle Hospital. Upon his release, Monroe returns to the small town determined to find out what happened to Indi and prove she is real. He never expected the dark web of secrets he would soon find out.
I love a full cast audiobook and this one did it right with all the characters having a speaker rather than a narrator per chapter. The book did take me a little bit to get into it and to figure out who the characters were, but the story was intriguing and hooked me by about 30% into it. More mild on the horror aspect but I liked the dark magic storyline and the generations of characters all connecting.

I was really intrigued by the concept here but I've got to be honest - I could not get past the narration.. I saw that other listeners really enjoyed the narrative style, with a series of actors performing as the characters and one actor voicing the writing around the dialogue. For me, it was extremely distracting and the melodramatic nature of some of the voices was so over the top that I just could not focus enough on the story to enjoy it. I would try reading this one as a book, but for an audio this one did not do it for me at...

Nikki Minty has flawlessly wrote "Psychosis Diagnosis" with multiple point of views and flashbacks from the 70s to the 90s. I would describe this a paranormal thriller suspense with a splash of murder mystery. There is a strong male villain that causes another character to decide good vs. evil. And shows the consequences when the chosen the path was the darkness. The story unfolds reveals generational trauma that was caused by the main male villain. This book contains triggers and instances of ritualistic murder of woman and child, cult, ritualistic witchcraft, possession, substance abuse, murder, spirits, and violence. Nikki brings aspects of New Orleans and Australia in the story so effortlessly. As well as had me rooting for a character that decided to choose the wrong path, as long as the young hero's of the story. If you wanted to root for the voodoo man of princess and the frog, and love a paranormal murder mystery story about a boy that gets framed by his own fathers doing and find out how he overcomes, then defiantly read or listen to this book!! I couldn't stop listening to the audio book version. I finished it within a day! I rated this book a 5 star because it held my curiosity and attention, great character development, story flowed and unfolded beautifully, no plot holes i could determine, and the detail all the way down to the very last chapter was amazing!

A psychological thriller that will have you questioning who and what to believe. Reading this book was like piecing a jigsaw puzzle together. The author gives you a little truth at a time until at the end everything falls into place seamlessly. If you like darker themes like voodoo spells, soul sucking cult leaders, dark magic and ghosts then you’ll probably enjoy this book.
Psychosis Diagnosis gives The Skeleton Key vibes, kinda the same concept but with its own creative storyline. It’s unlike anything I have read so far.
The audiobook production was very well done. It came with a full cast recorded in duet narration. The narrators did a great job.

Not only was Psychosis Diagnosis beautifully written, but when it comes to the audiobook it was magically performed. The narrators sounded so real and their emotions were so raw, that they completely captivated me from beginning to end. They were expressive and convincing. The man who read Enzo's part had a magnificent voice. It was gritty, powerful, and captured the Southern American accent perfectly.
I loved Monroe's voice too. It sounded appropriate for that of a teenager/young man.
The characters felt real and the way Nikki Minty brought all of their storylines together was seamless and made for a perfect conclusion.
If you are looking for a haunting story filled with witchcraft, twisted characters, and ghosts, then I highly recommend giving this title a try.

"Psychosis Diagnosis" by Nikki Minty lands squarely in the realm of "average but with potential" as an audiobook. While the core of the story itself held my interest and offered a compelling glimpse into its subject matter, the narration unfortunately didn't quite elevate the experience. It wasn't bad enough to make me stop listening, but it lacked the nuance and engagement that could have truly brought the story to life.
However, despite the less-than-stellar narration, Nikki Minty's storytelling shines through. The narrative is insightful and thought-provoking, offering a perspective that kept me engaged and curious about where things were headed.
Ultimately, if you're primarily focused on the content and are less sensitive to narration styles, "Psychosis Diagnosis" might still be worth a listen for it's strong narrative. However, those who highly value compelling audiobook performances might find themselves wishing for a different voice to guide them through this otherwise worthwhile story.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC Audiobook.
