Have just read this for the third time in 10 years. I cannot stress how much I love this book! The period dialogue is just right, something which many authors fail to capture in historical stories. The story itself is wonderful, with its blend of real history (Wellington etc) and magical help from the two title characters. Genuinely chilling in parts, and beautifully written overall, this is on my top ten list. I watched the TV version and thought it very good indeed.
I wish the author would continue the tale though as it is not ended ....

Thought this was an amazing novel! Can't wait to watch the miniseries!
