Love a good mystery - thriw in a serial killer and you are into a winner. Found this a gripping story.

This book sadly was not for me and I struggled through it. I am sure many will have loved it but it was not a book I enjoyed.

It was OK.
I loved the premise of the book that’s what drew me in but, I couldn’t stay with it.
The author writes well enough and has a good book here but there’s something lacking.

Towards the finale is what bumped another star off for me as I had all this anticipation and ......boom....it was spoilt before the ending.

OMG Juliette is a fruitcake!!!! Totally an utterly lost the plot!!!!! She’s potty and dangerous with it!!

She is not someone I would want to be friends with, I’d be scared what she’d do if I was (god forbid) happy!!!! Just imagine working with someone like that!!! She believes she should be the only person in the world to be happy and the only way she can be happy is in the arms of Nate who doesn’t want the intense relationship that Juliette has to offer. Throughout the book, you see the lengths she is prepared to go to, to get exactly what she wants. But all of this makes her the perfect candidate for our lead character!!

I really could not put this book down, reading until my eyelids were drooping in the evening. I was totally addicted to this fast paced tale, desperate to find out what Juliette will do next. This is a fantastic debut, Karen Hamilton has written a perfectly crafted psychological thriller with a totally unreliable narrator. If this book is anything to go by, Karen Hamilton is going to become a firm favourite in my reading sphere.

I hate it when I fail to finish books, yet occasionally it happens. In fact, I’ve recently forced a new rule upon myself: if I’m not enjoying a book, if it’s taking me forever to work through it, I’m to just stop reading. Such is what happened with this book – this book was a victim of the new rule.

The premise of this story was wonderful. There was so much promise: mystery, action, and the general gritty way of such novels. However, once I got into reading it I found the story wasn’t giving me all that it was promising. Yes, there were glimmers of these things; however, nothing every really stood out. Things simply were, and nothing was really holding my attention. In all honesty, I think most of it came down to the way of storytelling: I just couldn’t get into the way of writing, if I’m completely honest. It wasn’t that the writing was bad; it simply jarred with this kind of story. It didn’t have the breakneck pace and suspense that such novels need. I found myself bored more often than not, skipping chunks of the book to see whether things would pick up.

I’m sure some will enjoy this, but it wasn’t for me.
