My first book by this author and little did I know that this was the 22nd book in a series. A page turner of a thriller - with a little bit of the paranormal thrown in. Quite enjoyable.

This wasn't my favourite Caroline Mitchell book but I still enjoyed it quite a lot. It was an easy read and had a fun premise.

I’m still on my catch up reads in and in between other books I’m reading or listening to.
This was a spine chilling, atmospheric, “hairs on the back of your neck stand up” kind of read.
It has some supernatural feel to this that leaves you shivering all over from your head to your toes in a real “gotta keep reading” sort of way.
I’m onto book 3!

(I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)
Investigating a series of chilling murders, Detective Jennifer Knight finds herself tracking a mysterious tarot card reader known only as The Raven.
As the death toll rises, Jennifer and her team build a picture of a serial killer on the edge of sanity, driven by dark forces. But these are not random killings. And the method behind the madness could be the most terrifying thing of all …
Especially when it seems the death of one of their own is on the cards.
I will keep this brief.
Premise sounded fascinating: murders, supernatural, paranormal, tarot cards...sounded like everything I could want in a novel.
What I got was a plodding story with the well-worn path of the poor cop being foiled at every turn...until the end. There was a moment when the killer told the police officer to turn around to prove that he wasn't wearing a wire. And guess what? He got hit in the head with a shovel. Sounds more like Scooby-Doo than a series crime novel.
The rest was just cliché after cliché, really. Nothing that makes me really excited to read more (although I probably will!)

Chose this book without re readong rhe blurb. I have to say the whole paranormal thing is not my area and I enjoyed it but felt at times it was a bit silly. Ser up for another book at the end.

Really enjoyed this book gripped me from page one right until the end

Book 2 in the Detective Jennifer Knight series.
Well, well what can I say. I was kicking myself for falling being in reading Caroline's books, so I'm on a #CMBinge at the moment, and I have to say I'm loving it. How good it feels to be reading awesome books back to back.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and found the supernatural aspect of the book both freaky and interesting. It really does add to a seriously thrilling story. Grabbed from the word go, I managed to read this bad boy in just over a day. I only had 2 hours sleep, so instead of fighting it and wrestling to get to sleep I just picked up my kindle and got stuck in. Then throughout the day in between doing 'grown-up' stuff, I just kept sitting in the garden reading just one more chapter, before I knew it I was almost at the end, and then it just wasn't possible to put the damn thing down anyway so had to carry on until I'd finished it.
Absolutely fascinating. I couldn't wait to see what was happening. What was to come next.
Totally #Unputdownable
I'm really beginning to like the character Jennifer and I can see a bright future for her. Working alongside Will, they are investigating a new case that seems to linked to a Tarot card reader who is names as The Raven. called upon to investigate strange deaths as part of the elite Operation Moonlight team, Jennifer and Will waste no time. They make a great team. As well as the on going operation, I felt I really got to know the characters a lot better this time, I can see how this series could grow and grow.
And I've now decided that instead of feeling guilty for falling behind in these books, I think my sixth sense made me not read them, because as I reached the ending of this book, I really wanted more and I'm now able to dive right into book 3. So as they say 'Every Cloud, has a silver lining'
The story itself and the very clever way it has been written drags you right into the book, you could almost be their as part of the team. It's an easy book to get lost in, and the twists are very cleverly done.
I can't praise this series of books enough so far, and I'd love to stay and tell you some more, because I feel I could waffle on about this all day, but sorry I have book 3 to dive into, so that's all from me folks. All I have left to say is this is a must read of series.
