Extremely cute Christmas read. Ms Hale wrote very lovable relatable characters in this story! Might be a story I read each year to get into the Christmas spirt

Such a great festive read to put you in the Christmas spirit! I loved how Jenny described the setting of the mansion and built up the characters. A must for the Christmas read pile!

A perfect heartwarming book to curl up with during the evening and lose yourself in a holiday tale. Abbey, a single mother who is earning extra money by doing some interior design work for wealthy bachelor Nick, and the spirit of the holiday starts to influence them both. While a slightly predictable storyline, it's just the ticket for the holiday season.

Have had this book on my kindle for a while and as knew the film version was coming on tv thought I would read it. It was a lovely heartwarming Christmas read with likeable characters. Although predictable loved reading about all the Christmassy goings on and could clearly imagine the mansion surrounded by snow. The movie after this was not so good as they completely changed everything.

Calling all Hallmark Christmas movie fans! This is your next fave read. Endearing characters and a fairy-tale-esque plot combine with the charm of the holidays and a to-die-for setting in this sweet romance that’s perfect for curling up with by a roaring fire. Nick Sinclair is much like his grand estate house - empty and impersonal and in need of some Christmas magic. Enter Abbey Fuller and her adorable son Max, their love of Christmas, a house to be decorated, and some well-placed mistletoe. There’s a reason the Cinderella tale remains such a popular, timeless plot, and Hale takes everything beloved about this trope and adds her own style. Abbey and Nick’s story is less about the ‘prince’ rescuing the poor, mistreated woman and more about Abbey doing a bit of rescuing herself. Just in time for the holidays, this is a tender and uplifting romance with plenty of charm and Christmas spirit.

As you probably know I love Jenny Hale's Christmas books so when I was looking through my Christmas TBR pile I was surprised to find that I had one sitting there, from 2015!!! I was equally delighted and shocked. So, of course, I had to read it next.

The story follows Abby Fuller. Single mum of Max and nurse to Caroline. Abby is a very likeable character. She is very family orientated and also proud. She wants to give Max everything he deserves but she wants to do it herself through hard work. She doesn't want to be just handed it.

Max is a cute kid. He's smart, sweet and fun. I love the sock sliding scenes. He has some funny moments but he also has some really serious ones that made me well up a little.

Nick Sinclair is a workaholic who's hiding from his feelings. He feels the pressure of keeping his father's business going and pretty much blocks out the world to do it. Nick to me seemed like a man who was still struggling with the grief of losing his father and didn't know how to express it. The only thing that made sense to him was to keep the business going. Under that cold exterior is a man with a big heart.

Since Nick's wife left, he's not taken the time to make his house feel like a home again. With his family coming for Christmas he needs someone to make it feel warm, cosy and well, lived in. Caroline recommends Abby for the job and Nick hires pretty much on the spot. Abby has wanted to be an interior designer for a long time but put her dreams on hold when she got pregnant with Max. Now she has the opportunity of a lifetime. I loved hearing how Abby transformed the mansion from a cold empty shell to a warm loving home. She has such an eye for detail.

This book is warm and cosy. It will leave you with a glow and a smile and at this time of year, there's not much more you need from a book. This is the perfect companion to a snuggle on the sofa.

I really enjoyed the book, all the characters were very likeable, even the cat Señor Freckles, who sometimes wanted to steal the show with his demeanour. It had a nice Christmassy/wintry feeling to it, but what I enjoyed even more were the warm relations between the characters and how they all cared for each other, no matter the circumstances.

I don't normally like chick lit books set in the US for some reason but this one was OK. liked the main character of Abbey and her struggles as a single mum to Max. This was like a modern day Cinderella story when she meets super rich Nick and is asked to decorate his large house. Nick seemed rather cold and to me he didn't thaw out too much during the book. Wasn't sure about them all moving to New York - thought they might all settle in.the newly decorated house in Richmond. Liked Jenny's writing style and will definately read more by this author.
