I am a huge fan of the bake off and like baking myself so the title of this book really called to me. Add Christmas into the mix and you have a thoroughly enjoyable read. I like Sue's writing style.
The cover led me to believe that Bella's Christmas Bake Off would be a lighter story than it ended up being. That's fine! I don't mind a more serious story, with more serious topics, it just wasn't what I was expecting and craving when I picked this book up. So, readers be warned!
Aside from my initial expectations, I ended up settling into and enjoying Bella's Christmas Bake Off! Amy and Bella, once best friends, are now brought back together for Bella's Christmas baking special on TV. Both characters are very different, but each likeable in their own way. Bella is such a huge, colorful personality and I could not help but find myself liking her. Amy is very nice more down-to-earth, and I found her to be very relatable. There's a lot of humor to offset the more emotional scenes. And oh my goodness, the food. Don't read this while you're hungry! All in all, I found this to be a very fun and festive story.
Really enjoyable read. Good characters and a Good story. Well worth a read. Think others will. Enjoy
What a fun story from beginning to end. I love all of Sue’s books - her characters are well written, have great story lines that bring me in and I can never put her books down!
I cmhave recommended this book to many friends and family through many forms of social media and I would love to do a giveaway on my blog if interested!
I can’t believe that I have only just read this book! It has been on my Kindle for a while and now I have finally read it I have realised that I have been really missing out!! I loved the characters and the relationship and interaction between Bella and Amy was brilliant, it had me really giggling at times, they are such great characters!
I thought that the story was great (even of it did make me want to eat a Christmas dinner in September lol) but best of all the whole thing was believable – I could really see this happening, Dovecote was described brilliantly and its the kind of place I’d go to visit!
I just loved the ending and it is such a fantastic festive read, it has really put me in the mood for Christmas! Throughout the words flowed so well that I read it in a few hours – I didn’t want to put it down and I didn’t want the story to end either – definitely a 5 stars read from me and looking forward to reading the 2017 Christmas release from Sue!!
OMFG - could I want CAKE any more! This book made me drool in most places with all those recipes! Full of great characters, a quick pace, witty and emotive - I would definitely recommend this book to others!
I loved this story. It captivated me from the start.
I thought I was going to be on Amy’s side. All the way through Sue managed to have me feeling for both Bella and Amy.
The way the 2 contrasting lives come together and shows you don’t actually knows what goes on behind closed doors.
It was an enlightening festive story but not in quite the traditional sense and it was nice to read something a little bit different.
This is the 2nd of Sue’s books I have read and she doesn’t disappoint.
