A very fast paced and at times emotional thriller.
Your daughter I’d dead.
Shock.
But was it suicide?
Anger.
Grief.
As a Mother, being told your daughter is dead, but suicide brings blame, also BRINGS anger at the person, at yourself. What did I not see?
How could I have prevented it?
All kinds of things.
But what Mother truly knows her daughter?
There are hidden secrets.
Lots of cul-de-sac moments (no way out) so lots of brilliant red herrings.
I’m late reading this, but if this is a book that you’ve not read, it really is a good ‘un

Who was Vivian, really? And what has happened to her?
Rose's only daughter is dead. Probably suicide, but maybe? The investigation is ongoing.
Rose, a single mother who had loved her career a bit much, lives with much guilt and shame for not being an ideal mother, knowing that something had snapped in her neglected daughter. Vivian had many walls around her, many secrets. Rose is desperately trying to protect her 8-year-old granddaughter Lexi, but her son-in-law does not trust her - after all, she had not been present much in their family life. And there is Cleo - Ben's ex-girlfriend and Vivian's ex-best friend, pushed out by more beautiful girl. How far was she pushed out, mentally?
This one is not precisely a mystery, more a psychological drama, with Vivian's death as vehicle and catalyzer for actions. The questions of secrets, inner thoughts and feelings, miscommunication, lack of love and twisted love, coping mechanisms and true self-esteem - all of this play a part in the swiftly going noir novel. The pace is fast and the rainy atmosphere of London creates a good stage for this novel with a lot of tensions and undercurrents, secrets and human hearts.
The authoress is a psychologist and it shows well.
But...not all of the tension-making questions are answered and the ending is a bit abrupt - ending with secrets protected, once again. And one needs to answer the question for themselves: Does silence bring healing?
Having said all that, I applaud the authoress for expertly built tension and the understanding of human hearts. Rose, the main character, is well-portrayed and interesting woman with many layers, which I like. Other characters need more depth, but I like some of them, like DS Cole, who really needs her own story!
I recommend to read this book during rainy autumn days, or early winter. It really adds to the reading experience!

Forget Me Not by Luana Lewis is a deceptive book on many levels.
It is simply written, and this in itself is deceptive, for it is not a simple book. It is a multi-layered book; there are layers and layers of lies and near lies, things that are hidden; more deception. And yet it is an easy read. The characters are well defined, the plot complex but simple. Nothing blurs. The author writes fluidly and with great clarity.
Set amid complex family relationships, a young woman, Vivien - a mother, a daughter, a wife - dies. Was it suicide? Was it murder? Told mainly through the eyes of Vivien's mother Rose, with occasion flashbacks from Vivien herself, this is a book that slowly drew me in until I was completely immersed in the story. It left me breathless, stunned and very, very satisfied.

A tragic suicide?
When Rose's daughter, Vivien , is found dead in a suspected suicide, Rose has questions nobody can answer. Wasn't Vivien living the perfect life? A caring husband, a sweet little girl of her own.
Or the perfect murder?
But as the police investigation develops, their findings raise new questions. Did Vivien kill herself, or was she attacked? If so, who has something to hide?
As Rose struggles to piece together the secrets of her daughter's life, the cracks in the family begin to show. But once Rose knows the answers, there's no going back...
I loved this book. Couldn't figure it out. Full of twists and plots. I loved the story and the characters. Highly recommended. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.
