I could not put this down. Fast paced and really enjoyable. We have purchased for our school library and it is proving very popular with students.
We are thrown into a whole other world- with some really chilling characters. I can't wait to read the next book in the series
I absolutely loved this book! The storyline is great and really draws you in. I ended up reading i really quickly.
Would highly recommend.
Although this book is aimed at a YA audience I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cecelia Ahern is one of my go to authors and this book didn’t disappoint. Great read.
My Mum has always been a massive fan of the author Cecelia Ahern, and when she released Flawed I was interested. I had also read Where The Rainbow Ends which I also enjoyed. Although I left it a lot longer to read, I did really like Flawed and it took me by surprise for some reason.
I have to admit that I didn't think I would like this one. I was excited about reading it but after I had a lengthy dystopian phase when I was 14, I have always been a bit picky about the future books that I read. Even though I was apprehensive I think this worked for the better as my expectations were lower so I got a lot more from the story.
One of the things that I enjoyed was the world-building. Even though I don't believe that anyone would ever put an F on someone, obviously casting people from society is a theme that is explored in the book and it is done well.
These stories normally go two ways, ever it is a regressed state or everything is better but I think it is very rare for these worlds to still have phones and mentions text messages. I thought this was an interesting choice and I actually liked its inclusion.
With the world-building, I actually loved the writing for Flawed. There were two scenes in the book that made me feel so deeply uncomfortable that I was blown away by Cecelia Ahern's writing ability. One of these is a sexual assault scene so please consider this a trigger warning.
With the first-person point of view, it made me feel for Celestine so much and I wanted to give her so much care. I also think that the characters are well fleshed out and seeing some of the reveals that happened were exciting.
Flawed is also a really fast-paced and addictive read. I was racing towards the end and finished it mostly all in one day, which is a credit again to the writing.
I was really drawn to Celestine as a character as we read about her navigating the world of Flawed. The character development is really great and I think that all the side characters are really well developed too. Although one of the problems I had was with the love triangle as I am not a massive fan of those.
Flawed does leave on a bit of a cliffhanger and as it is a duology, I hope I can get to the next book soon as I do want to know what happens.
The Verdict:
Flawed is a good addition to the dystopia genre which will have you racing to the end to find out what happens.
Cecelia Ahern is my guilty pleasure - her books make you feel like you're drinking a cup of hot chocolate.
A great foray into dystopian YA, would recommend.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publishers.
I really enjoy Cecelia Ahern novels, but I think my anticipation got the better of me and I didn't enjoy this book as much as I hoped to. The main character was too selfish for me to relate to or understand, and it got to the point where she was irritating me.
The dystopian concept was intriguing, a society where anyone who steps out of place is branded as 'flawed'. The idea of becoming an outcast because of your decisions is frightening, imaging how one decision could change your whole life, even if it was a decision you wanted to make but society didn't agree with.
My problem with Celestine was how quick she was to judge others, and how poor her own decision making was. She doesn't listen to anyone and is very closed minded. I feel like she could have tried a lot harder to build bridges rather than breaking them, and without this connection with the protagonist, even on a small level I just couldn't get on her side at all.
An enjoyable concept, but one that just didn't deliver for me. I'll still read Cecelia Ahern books because shes an author who isn't afraid of trying something new.
My daughter actually read this and highly recommends it to her age group circa 18 years old but I have to say I enjoyed it too
I recently bought a new kindle after my old one broke. For some reason I was unable to download this title from the cloud onto my kindle, therefore I will be unable to review this title. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused
Really rather impressive for Cecelia Ahern's first foray into YA fiction!
Plenty of lovely dystopian stuff, with family revenge and all the lovely stuff that goes with it.
I have recommended this one to lots of my students and it has been a roaring success!
I absolutely loved this book! The plot is gripping and I ended up reading this super quickly. Would highly recommend for anyone that enjoys similar books such as 'The Hunger Games'.
although this book is aimed at teens and YA, it was an enjoyabke read as per every other Cecelia Ahern read. you became invested in the characters.
I really loved this book! ~Second one I have read by Cecelia Ahern and I wasn't disappointed. It followed an interesting story about Celestine, a character who, at times, seemed a little too similar to other YA fictional characters, like Katniss, the innocent girl starting a revolution without actually meaning to, although, my small issue aside, I enjoyed hearing from her point of view.
The book is INCREDIBLY fast paced, and had me completely hooked from page 3 (no exaggeration!). I just couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I will admit that I was slightly dubious about picking this up, after reading the summary inside the front cover, which made the book sound like a love story, something I would not have been interested in, but was recommended to me by a friend. Cecelia's "model" life or relationship with "impossibly charming" Art is not the main basis of the story, but actually something more complicated, and political.
I read this book in less than 2 days as I enjoyed it so so much and just couldn't stop reading! Definitely worth a read, and I hope Cecelia Ahern continues to write more YA books in the future... Enjoy!
This was an interesting young adult dystopian story. Not my usual genre at all, however I did enjoy it.
Loved this book. Cecilia Ahern is a masterful storyteller. Deeply moving dystopian novel. a must-read at any time.
Flawed is a great read! The characters were interesting and detailed, each with their own quirks and surprises that were revealed throughout the book. From Celestine's logic to the facade of normality and perfection displayed by her family, it's clear that every character in the book is well rounded and has a story of their own to tell.
This would definitely have been a five-star read if it wasn't for the cliffhanger ending - I really hate cliffhanger endings!
Despite this, I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on a copy of the next book in the series. The ending was my only real gripe with Flawed, so I'm excited to find out what happens next!
Great book! I loved all of the characters and the plot line. It was a very moving story and all the little details given really furthers the reader liking of the story. Thank you very much, I was a very good read! Would definitely recommend it.
This is a YA book and I was really keen to read this after seeing Cecelia Ahern at an author event at a local bookshop. The premise sounded so unusual and she had such passion for the characters.
Celestine was a fascinating character. She leads a perfectly normal life up until a certain event- where her life is turned completely upside down. She will be judged to see if she will become classified as 'flawed'.
We are thrown into a whole other world- with some really chilling characters. I can't wait to read the next book in the series
I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher, in return for an honest review. This review is based entirely on my own thoughts and feelings.

This was a very good book but that ending?!! I haven’t got the second one lined up and what a cliffhanger. This is in no way a stand-alone novel and I suggest having the next part lined up ready. I’m not personally a fan of such abrupt endings but I really liked the story line so I’ll let it slip. A good combination of storylines like hunger games, divergent and 1984. I recommend.
I found this book hard to get into at first and put it aside for quite a long time. Then I decided to give it another go as the description which enticed me to get it in the first place, still appealed. I am glad I tried again as it is a good story written for the YA reader and the moral dilemma of the main character, Celestine, has many parallels with our society despite the futuristic setting. A very interesting storyline, well written and an ending which leaves no doubt that there will be a sequel (or two!). Recommended for 14+ years old.
