"In the heart of the sea: the tragedy of the whaleship Essex" is unlike any other non-fiction book I've ever read. The writing makes it feel like fiction, a dramatization of a real event. I never realised how much I'd like more non-fiction to be like this.

Chances are, you've already seen the movie (I haven't) or maybe you think reading history is dull. Philbrick will change your mind.

This book is sure to stick around for as long as Moby Dick - the novel based on the events of the whaleship Essex. As a factual and historical account, this is a must-read.
