In this second volume, our protagonist is immediately faced with massive challenges: she is dragged into another world, she needs to rely on the help of a Fae Lord, the Hierarchy seems less inclined to help her and her appretice is kidnapped.
Despite everything though, this book manages to build a solid plot, clearly showing that the writer has improved her command of pacing and structure - the only but is how sudden and abrupt the ending is. It feel definitely a cliff hanger and instead giving us a good ending, instead it goes after side plots and a preview of the next book. If you hate cliffhangers, make sure to have the third on hand immediately. You'll thank me later.
It's still a great series and a great concept because who doesn't love a battle-librarian?
