It is full of twists and turns where you imagine different characters may have been responsible or have covered up secrets.

If I am honest I found the Darkest Secret extremely disappointing, it struggled to hold my attention and thus took far longer than usual to read. The first 20% where the story about little Coco's disappearance is introduced and then the final 5% where the truth is revealed was great, sadly the middle 75% proved way to slow and boring. Because of the way the book is written there was a lot of repetition.
The story is divided where what is going on today alternates to what happened when Coco went missing from each characters perspective.
I found the characters were a little too far out there for them to be believable for me

This was an enjoyable read and I would recommend it. thanks for letting me have an advance copy. I'm new to this author.

A really enjoyable read. Good well written characters and a great story. Definitely worth a read. Highly recommended.

A clever book written about a group of mostly horrid, self-centred people over two time frames. In the first, the adults who are not at all nice people, are partying, and a small child is lost. In the later time, the twin of that small child has to attend her father's funeral, and the secrets start to come out.
Well written, believable people and a book which you will read to the end to find out what happened, but rather sad.

Really enjoyable read. Good characters and a Good story. Well worth a read. Think others will. Enjoy

This felt like quite a quick read once I got into it, but that could be because I didn't want to put it down. Annoyed with myself that I've had this on my kindle so long and only just gotten around to reading it.
I've decided I'm playing catch up with my older books, and loving finding great stories I've missed out on.
An interesting read with some great twists that you really don't see coming.
I think the author has done great with this one and I look forward to reading more.

The Darkest Secret.
Yep, and there are loads of dark secrets in between these pages for sure.
Book 3 in the series but can be read as a stand alone I feel personally.
A child that has gone missing.
But it’s not straight forward.
I’m not sure I liked or connected with any characters in this. They were evil.
But boy oh boy, it made me turn pages so fast my eyeballs couldn’t keep up!
So, at the beginning I struggled. I had to keep going back over some of what I’d just read. First I thought it was me, getting older or I’m dumb. But I see some other reviews have mentioned that, so phew, I’m not for putting in a home quite yet!
Relief.
I was at 2.75 stars then.
But that twist...
Oh blimey that twist.....
Bumped to a 3.75 and rounded up to a 4

This was really great. Twisty, with believable characters and nicely written. It was quite a quick read too, which I like.

This is a great book.. It is the story of sisters but not in the conventional way. India and Millie are the first daughters of hot shot entrepreneur Sean. A later marriage produces twins Coco and Ruby and his final marriage, to a girl almost the same age as Millie produces baby Emma. When one of the twins goes missing, the sisters are already all estranged. Years later when Sean dies they start a tentative relationship and the mystery of the disappearance is solved. Or is it? The story given to Millie, which only makes her want to protect the other twin, Ruby, from the truth is actually not correct. Although the reader may think they know the real truth it is only in the last chapter that the chilling true account of that night emerges. A great read!

I really enjoyed this book. The story was gripping with lots of twists and turns that you would not expect and a super ending.
Marwood slowly reveals the events that led to Coco's disappearanceat the same time she is tearing at your heartstrings - I felt for Camilla and Ruby (two of Sean's daughters), the outrage that these poor children went through was awful and I could feel nothing but pure disgust for all the adults.
'This book will keep you thinking about it, and the characters long after you have finished reading.

This book was very enjoyable despite being full of incredibly unlikeable characters. It was a real page turner and kept me guessing right up until the end and has an excellent final twist too.
However, there were a few bits of this book that just didn’t seem to gel for me – there seemed to be a couple of loose ends or red herrings that didn’t get resolved and the story just didn’t seem quite complete. However, it was great to read a book set in my hometown – such a novelty to be familiar with places!
Overall, this is well worth a read as it’s fast-paced and entertaining.

A good thriller, did not have me on the edge of my seat and I found the ending predictable but it was well written.

The Darkest Secret by Alex Marwood.
Apologies for the general email, but I desperately need your help.
My goddaughter, Coco Jackson, disappeared from her family's holiday home in Bournemouth on the night of Sunday/Monday August 29/30th, the bank holiday weekend just gone. Coco is three years old.
When identical twin Coco goes missing during a family celebration, there is a media frenzy. Her parents are rich and influential, as are the friends they were with at their holiday home by the sea.
But what really happened to Coco?
Over two intense weekends - the first when Coco goes missing and the second twelve years later at the funeral of her father - the darkest of secrets will gradually be revealed...
An absolutely fantastic read with brilliant characters. I loved the story. Wow. 5*. Netgalley and little brown book group UK.

This was an interesting book but a rather uncomfortable read because all the characters were so awful! It was difficult to imagine so many people linked together who could be so unlikeable. Nevertheless, there was extreme tension throughout and an excellent ending. At times the writing was really very beautiful, but it could change in an instant and become hard-edged again.
I would recommend it but only to people who I know who would enjoy this type of psychological thriller.
