Wow! What an amazing story.
There is a lot going on in this story but it’s easy to keep up with.
All I can think about is how crazy and heartbreaking this story was. To even imagine having to go thru what most of these characters went thru is mind boggling.
This story for sure bumped Kathryn Croft to my favorite shelf.

It touches on very dark subjects and some of the characters are very chilling.
You are routing for Simone to find the answers she's looking for whilst wondering where the book will lead next.
It was extremely well written and I can't wait to read more by Kathryn Croft.

This will have you all over the place trying to figure out something that will take another turn! Good book and it will keep you intrigued from start to end!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
This is my second book by Kathryn Croft and I would say I am a fan. She is a solid 4 star mystery writer and I would pick up her other books as well.
This story was heartbreaking as it is every parent's fear come true, Simone's 6 month old daughter is abducted. The hardest part is when eighteen years later a girl who could be her walks back into her life.
Well done story pushing and pulling you in and making you second guess who this girl is and what happened to the baby. It took me a while to guess the conclusion and I have to admit it is different and unexpected.
Sensitive subjects for parents who have lost a child but otherwise an intriguing mystery.

This story begins 18 years in the past with young parents Simone and Matt and their daughter Helena living in a small apartment while 22 yr. old Matt pursues his dream of being a doctor. Matt's mother helps them out on a regular basis, and on this particular day, she takes Helena to the park, giving the young parents some time alone.
A short time later, an urgent phone call changes all their lives forever. Helena has been taken...
Cut to the present day. Simone is now a successful journalist and Matt is a doctor. Simone is approached by Grace, a young woman who says she wants to talk about Helena. Simone is skeptical at first, but
begins to have hope for the first time in years.
When Grace disappears, Simone finds herself caught up in a web of deceit spun by people who will go to any lengths to make sure she never learns the truth.
This book caught my attention from the first, and never lost it. The chapters throughout, written from an unknown person's point of view, were horrifying. This person is dark and evil, having done unspeakable things to people, apparently with no remorse.
The story has several twists and turns and will keep you guessing until the final reveal. I had several ideas about the outcome along the way, but was totally blown away by the actual ending. This is a perfect example of a psychological thriller, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre.

If you read Croft's previous book, "The Girl with No Past," this one will feel pretty similar. Unreliable narrator, twisty identity mystery, alternate timelines between past and present - standard issue thriller. Many will love such a tale, but I always find myself wanting new takes on mysteries and thrillers, rather than formula, and this one fizzled out a bit for me. Croft is clearly at ease in her style, however, and has found an easy rhythm that lovers of psychological thrillers will swoon for.

Really enjoyable read. Good characters and a Good story. Well worth a read. Think others will. Enjoy

Eighteen years ago your baby daughter was snatched. Today, she came back.
A sinister and darkly compelling psychological thriller from the No.1 bestselling author of The Girl With No Past.
Eighteen years ago, Simone Porter’s six-month-old daughter, Helena, was abducted. Simone and husband, Matt, have slowly rebuilt their shattered lives, but the pain at losing their child has never left them.
Then a young woman, Grace, appears out of the blue and tells Simone she has information about her stolen baby. But just who is Grace – and can Simone trust her?
When Grace herself disappears, Simone becomes embroiled in a desperate search for her baby and the woman who has vital clues about her whereabouts.
Simone is inching closer to the truth but it’ll take her into dangerous and disturbing territory.
Simone lost her baby. Will she lose her life trying to find her?
Well having a few days needing complete rest has really helped me get through a few books, I decided at the start of the year I would get through some of the older books I have outstanding that need reading. So here I am, this time around I have chosen The Girl You Lost by Kathryn Croft.
What did I think.
This is one of those books that has characters that are real and feel almost like you know them. It's a Psychological thriller with twists galore. You really do get dragged into the story of this book.
How do you cope with life when your child is snatched. How do you move on from something as heart wrenching as that. 18 years later Simone is confronted by a young lady who believes she is her daughter.
A lot of questions need answering but when Grace the young lady who confronted Simone, believing to be her daughter disappears again, there are even more questions to be answered.
Simone is then on a mission to find the truth. A race to find the answers needed could cause a whole heap of trouble and danger.
As the truth becomes closer you really find yourself wanting answers, for a good outcome, for things to be solved and work out.
Very cleverly put together and makes interesting reading.

This is definitely a psychological thriller at its best! There was a great storyline to follow and it kept me guessing until the end. You never really know if your past will come back to haunt you or who you can really trust!
Be ready to stay up all night reading this one!

I stupidly ran out of time on Netgalley to read this and ended up borrowing it from the library and I'm so glad I did! It's creepy and addictive and I could not put it down. I figured out who was involved fairly early on in the book and hoped I was wrong because, gross! But nope, I was right about that character all along although that didn't take anything away from the reveal, which was fantastic. I highly recommend this dark, twisted psychological thriller!

Great twist at the end, if only this book would have been a little faster paced. This wasn't the type of book that I couldn't put down. The twists seemed a bit far fetched and the ending was too convenient

The Girl You Lost, by Kathryn Croft, is a psychological thriller that explores the reappearance of a child that was abducted many years earlier.
I enjoy novels that are written from multiple perspectives and the characterization throughout this novel was very well done.
Narrator and main character Simone Porter was wonderfully crafted. Not only could I feel every one of her emotions but I admired her determination, over many years of searching for her daughter, when the odds were against her. Being able to delve into the minds of the criminals, at times horrific and unimaginable, only added to the story and its surprising outcome.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and look forward to more of this author's work.

I have decided that i will not be publishing a review for this book after reading it since i did not get along with this book. but since i felt like it was mostly for my own personal reasons why i didn't enjoy the book it wouldn't be fair towards the author and the book itself if i would publicise a negative review simply because this book didn't fit into my personal reading preferences.
thank you for the opportunity to read this book even if it did not work out as we all had hoped.

It took me forever to read this book. Sorry to the publisher for this. Once I started I kicked myself for not reading it sooner. Can I just say that I loved this book. It had everything that a good thriller needs. And I just devoured it all, racing ahead to find out what happened next. I am a huge thriller reader and this goes right to the top of my "love it" list! Get yourself a copy and find a quiet corner!

Wow this book seriously messed me up. I wasn't expecting that at all. The moment I started this book I could tell I was in for a wild ride. It started off hectic with you questioning everything and kept you on your toes for the whole book. I am so impressed with this book. I do have to say there were some dark and messed up moments but it made the book that more shocking. I will be checking out more books from this author in the future, I just need sometime to recover from this. I would highly recommend.

Absolutely excellent book! Well written, great characterisation, a real page turner. What a revelation, I've never read any of Kathryn's books before this one but I shall certainly be doing so now. Thanks Kathryn & NetGalley .

This is not the typical kind of book that I would normally pick up but I fancied a change and the plot intrigued me. Wow is all I can say. The book drew me in and I completed it in a matter of days. The characters are totally believable and it is really well written with a brilliant twist at the end. So glad I was given the opportunity to read this and I will definitely be reading more Kathryn Croft fiction in the future.
