I wasn't a huge fan of the characters as I found them a little one-dimensional and I didn't enjoy the writing style so this was a DNF for me.

Although this book has been marketed under the genre Thriller, to my mind it’s not. It’s more like suspense, family drama. Because it’s been put into that category I think I was expecting more so got disappointed. If it were put under family/suspense then I think I’d have been on a difference course in my mind reading it (if that makes sense).

It’s very well written as you’d expect from this author with very well developed characters. It did keep my interest and I did enjoy it.

It just wasn’t what I was expecting.

My downside is, I do have an average memory but there are so many people in this story I occasionally got lost.

A tense psychological thriller that took a while to pick up, but when it did ... A recruitment office team building that turns into a whodunit.

FANTASTIC.

You know your colleagues, your work family, right? But when your boss is fired and the new boss plays the divide and rule game, the facade of civilization is crashing down fastly and furiously. And maybe the one of the all of you (or more?) has something hidden in their soul, something damaged.

I had been not sure if there is possibly a new motive brought out for the mysteries and crimes nowadays. all has been said and done and again, right? And I am one happy reader to report that I have been wrong. THIS IS NEW - or at least, newly told (which is the same).
Love? Phew. Blackmail? In the times of internet, all sensation if for 3 days. But the burden of the work, the pushes up and down, the risk, the doubt, the fear - yes, one could kill because of all the emotional, toxic atmosphere including the all we can buy/need/give/attain to all things money, work and prestige - because it represents the safety in all of its meanings in our times.
And this atmosphere is exactly felt and described by this wildly talented author.
The psychology part is a bit more sinister, as it indicated that "something" has happened - but it is very smart in indicating something and saying nothing, which builds the atmosphere.
The book is also full of smartly put red herrings, so even if I was able to see the mastermind behing the skillfully-built plot, I was guessing till the last chapters.

I very much enjoyed this book - as a mystery books lover. I also gained much wisdom, a bit of sadness and much points to mull over - as a human being.

From now I will read any mystery novel written by Ms Cohen.
Recommended read.

I found this book a little hard to follow with it switching between the characters and then running a separate side story which later joined up. It didn't really grip me unfortunately

Gripping from the start ,love the way there are two stories running parallel at the same time ,don't miss this if you enjoy psychological thrillers

Tammy Cohen is fast becoming one of my "go to" authors. You are guaranteed a good quality read, and "When She Was Bad" was no exception. Whilst I found the beginning part of the book, a bit slow going, it soon picked up the paced and I ended up reading it in only two sittings.

I began reading this book and all was as described in the jacket blurb. An office where a new boss arrives and everyone has to be on their toes. Then the book skipped to a character called Anne - a child psychologist who seemed to be in America. Whereas the office was in the UK.

I read on and then it happened again! This seemingly unrelated story that Anne was telling - it was like another book had got mixed up with the one I was reading. I checked the blurb again - definitely no mention of what was turning into a bit of a horror story.

Then we were back in the office again and all the humdrum office life that you will have witnessed if you ever worked in one. Even a team building away weekend.

Suddenly the book began to gather some pace about two thirds of the way through and I realised that these two unrelated stories were in fact going to collide, in a big way. The whodunnit aspect kicked in and I began to try and second guess the answer to no avail.

Ultimately this was a clever if confusing book at times. If you've ever worked in an office you will certainly identify with that part of the book - although hopefully your team building never ended quite like the one in the book.

I'm giving this book four out of five stars. My thanks to Netgalley for a copy to review.

A fantastic read, this book was really enjoyable. I loved how there was two parallel stories with one flashing back to the past - it really gave the story depth. The book kept me guessing all the way through and only right at the end did I work it out. A seriously good book for any book club.

I thought this book was very disturbed but it may have been that which kept me hooked and guessing until the end!

Oooh I thought this book was very disturbed but it may have been that which kept me hooked and guessing until the end! I thought I'd guessed the ending a few times, and then when it did end I realised I couldn't have predicted that and was nowhere near right! This was my first book by this author and I have downloaded two more to read at my leisure. 4 stars from me.

When Rachel Masters arrives at a small recruitment firm armed with the task of shaking things up, the entire team are on edge. Some react differently - flattery, panic, paranoia - but all are worried about their job security. Is Rachel as she seems or does she have a hidden agenda?

Meanwhile, child psychologist Anne is thousands of miles away in America, but she has recognised someone from a news story in Britain - someone she hasn't seen in a very, very long time since she was part of a team helping children from a House of Horrors.

Addictive, I couldn't put the book down. Literally. I walked around with the kindle in my hand. I bumped into things. I saw 2 am on the clock. ADDICTIVE. The setting of an Office was ingenious - small offices can be close and tight-knit, but they can also be tense and paranoid. This was a fantastic thriller, really fresh, and most importantly - I couldn't see the ending coming. Recommended.
