Helen Phifer has the unique gift of writing terrifying but wonderfully told stories that render you unable to sleep at night. I am a huge fan of the Annie Ashworth series and this story was a terrific addition. I bought The Ghost House first and can't have it at the front of my bookshelf because it's so scary. This book starts with the discovery of a skeleton in the local woods and quickly unfolds into one of the scariest and most brilliant books I've ever read. Helen's talent for supernatural crime is unparalleled - she blends the paranormal with realism splendidly and I guarantee after you've finished, you won't sleep for a week.
