Oh goodness! I just did not get on with the writing style of this one, so it was a DNF for me. Maybe if I read it a few years ago (when I requested it, sorry!) I might have enjoyed it more as I was in the target audience. But alas, it was not the book for me.

This book was enchanting. I adored each and every one of the characters and the sweeting magic system.

I requested this title back before my blogging break. I have ended up with a number of titles that are overwhelming to catch up on now I am back from my blogging break. I am regretfully not going to be reading and reviewing this title, but now I am back from my blogging break, I am looking forward to reading and reviewing some of your future titles. I like the concept but the whole story didn't interest me at all. I was really annoyed with the characters and I just don't get it.

This had quite an interesting concept, but I'm afraid it fell a bit flat for me in the end, with the romance not being anything special.

This was interesting, but sadly I didn't love it enough to want to continue reading. I think the writing style wasn't a right fit for me.

DNF. I couldn't connect with this book at all and found it really hard to get into. I had high hopes for this, which is a shame.

Interesting spin on a classic fairytale! Whilst this wasn't my favorite book, it still kept my attention from beginning to end. There were times however where the writing or the plot style felt very choppy, and disjointed, like there wasn't a really great FLOW. Certain characters were more enjoyable than others (i.e, I liked the side characters MUCH more than our main heroine). The end of the novel was what I think saved this book for me and made me rate it four stars. Highly recommend this fantasy!

I read this a long time ago but never reviewed it. It was ok at the time of reading but there are many things that were forgettable about it (however I did take forever to review it so it could just be me).

A good fluffy YA supernatural story overall

Ah, I really wished I liked this book more. I had high expectations after seeing the word 'Witch' in the title and this cover. It definitely has a good plot. It had a lot of potential but unfortunately it failed to deliver what I expected. I was unable to connect with the main character. She was not a likable one. However, it had some good supporting characters which I always appreciate.

The writing was okay-ish. I wish the plot of the story was consistent but somewhere it was quite slow and somewhere it felt like rushed.

This book could have been much better. Fantasy and paranormal lovers might enjoy this more than me. I am not looking forward to read the other books in the series.

I wanted to like this book because it ticked so many boxes for me; YA, fantasy, witches, romance. Alas, it just didn't do it for me. However, I have plenty of friends who read the book and loved it.

The lead character grated on me which made it hard to feel invested or even interested. But Leo was better and much more likeable.
The story was....well it felt like their wasn't one.

All in all this wasn't the book for me, but if it is for you grab it for a bed side table read and dive right in.

The romance was rushed-- not quite instalove/love-at-first-sight, but pretty close. They barely knew each other before they were making out.

Merry basically sat around and waited for things to happen, leaving me as the reader bored. It didn't feel like there was much plot around the very basic "free boy from curse".

Good villains have to be complex and nuanced so that you can empathise with their actions. This story’s antagonist was salty because he got friend-zoned. He was inconsistent and about as terrifying as a wet paper bag. He definitely could have been more fleshed out.

Overall, I found myself really liking this book. The authors did a fantastic job. They took an overused story and turned into something different. Yes, there was some typical or trope like moments in the book but it felt fresh and like something different. The writing did throw me a bit in the beginning but it got better. The plot is incredible and it is 100% the reason why you should pick this book up right now. The main character felt like a realistic representation of someone in that situation and it really made the story more believable. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to jump into the next one! Thank you so much to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book.

The recent attacks in their village is no coincidence when The King of Hearts has finally awaken. Merry is part of a bloodline of witches where they bound their bloodline to an oath, to finally complete what the three sisters prolonged to do, to destroy Gwydion by separating the King of Hearts and Jack once and for all.

What I loved is that Merry embraces that of a normal sixteen-year-old British teenager with the teenage problems, rebellious, boys, spots, friendships, but on top of all that she isn't a ordinary person. She's had grow up with this 'rumour' of her family, whispers in the locker room, the fact is she doesn't mind being magical, but when she first start to 'experiment' she realised all to quickly the dangers of an untrained magic and being selfish with it can have it's consequences. So when this oath falls on her shoulders, I don't really blame her that acts out a bit, she has every right too. But one thing I really loved about Merry was that she's brave and courageous, to grow up, face her fears very quickly knowing that the fate of the magical and non-magical worlds is down to her. Plus falling in love with the bad guy also helped...

"I'm not the wicked witch, but I don't have to be perfect good fairy, either. I'm just me: a normal, complicated human, who happens to have a talent for witchcraft."

This book isn't just about fairy-tales and magic or curses, there so much in the way family. There's the good and bad like with any family, especially with Merry's mum's distance. But then you have the exceptional characters, that bring so much more to book. Leo, everyone needs a brother like Leo. Having his perspective in the book, spoke volumes, it added such a familiar and truly touching moments between Merry and Leo. It gives it texture to the book and an unbreakable bond that you can't help but just love so completely. But no matter what they'll always be there.
Then there is Gran, she's the life of the book. She isn't your regular type of Grandparent in the slightest, head of a coven she has a heavy responsibility not only training Merry but also as her grandmother too. She's a bit on the extravagant side but the coolest gran I've ever come across and that's why I loved her.

The Corr sisters have this uncanny way of creating a book together that is seamless. Sometimes in a book you can tell who has written what part and that's the beauty of it because they are so attune with each other and that's what I loved. Having met the Corr sisters; Liz and Kate, they have such affectionate, supportive, and down to earth personas that you can see that through their writing and especially through the sibling love of Leo and Merry.

So this book is a YA parabormal/fantasy about whitches where there is an old curse and only one particular girl can break the curse when the time is right. I liked our main character Merry, i felt that she coped quite well considering the amount of stress and dependencies that was on her. I loved the bond that her and her brother, leo, have. It is so cute and is a main part of the book which makes up the story. There was alot of characters involved in the story which you had to pay attention too to be able to understand fully what was going on. I loved the retelling elements of the book at the beginning as it was based on the story of maleficent however with the roles reversed. The only thing i wished for more was more romance and for the pace to be a bit quicker.

I gave this book 3 stars as i felt that it was good but i wish there was a some more added into it.

The book took me a little to get into and just when I was starting to get a little interested boom done.

I never realised it was a sampler so I was thinking to myself its a very short book then I came and read some the reviews and realised!

I might pick it up again, I think it leans to the younger side.

I enjoyed the sample and would read the whole thing if someone gave it to me. An intriguing plot with a nice hint of mystery.

Didn't realize this was just a sample. Enjoyed the first 5 chapters, I plan on picking up the book to finish it.

The Witch's Kiss took a while to grip me. And just when things were getting good, the story ended. Just like that.

It took me a solid thirty minutes to realize that I wasn't given the entire book. I sat here for what felt like ages wondering why someone would end a story in a spot like that. Then I read the reviews and realized I was missing out on, like, 90% of the book. Seriously. I guess I have to find myself a full-length copy now. Cool.
