I'd read the first two books in this series and really enjoyed them - the characters and story were well done however, by the time I got to this book I had lost interest. I was just struggling to get into it even though I initially enjoyed the first two books. I may decide to pick it up in future but for now I ended up DNFing it.
I’ve been sitting on this for a while and cannot get onto it 😭!
I don’t know why, I loved the first two but I just keep trying this one and leaving it.
I feel I’ve just lost interest in the series and I really apologise.
Thank you so much for my chance of reading the arc and if I do go back to it I will leave a proper review but until then I do not want to post on good reads as it’s unfair to the author.
I love the Talon series and I was really looking forward to read Soldier. Julie Kagawa never failed to amaze me
I read the first two books in this series straight after each other last year! I loved them that much that I was left desperate for this book! I then received an email from the UK publisher last month with new review requests and this book was included, so I quickly requested it! I was so happy that I was accepted that I made it my next read! I loved this book just as much as the other books! It had so much in it and there was plenty of action, suspense and romance to keep me hooked and desperate to read on and find out what was going to happen next! The plot was also amazing! It developed at the perfect pace and it was continued on brilliantly from the last book! It also went in the direction that I was expecting it to go in, but I wasn't expecting the characters to have changed so much! It was understandable though as the characters had been through a lot and they were fighting for their lives! The characters were also again amazing and seriously kick-ass in this book! Ember was again the main female character, and after going through a lot of changes in her life in the first two books, Ember found it difficult in this book to remember who she was and how to stay the same person she was at the beginning of the first book! This made my heart completely go out to her because Ember felt like she was too violent and she killed too quickly! I loved Ember in this book though! She was strong and she tried her hardest to accept her new life! Ember also really surprised me in this book with some of the choices she made, but I respected her decisions! The love triangle was also back in this book, and it was again between Ember, Riley and Garret! The love triangle didn't play as big a part in this book for the first half of it, but it was still there, which I loved! It played more of a part in the second half/last 30% of the book though! I still couldn't pick between the two guys as well lol! Riley was still dark and was there for Ember more in this book, but he was more focused on defeating the enemy at times! Garret also tried to hide his feelings for Ember because he wanted her to be with Riley as they were both dragons! I admired Garret for this! Both guys were also seriously hot! This book was written from four different point of views including Ember, Riley, Garret and Dante, Ember's brother's, point of views! I loved all the different point of views! Normally I prefer a book to only be written from two different point of views, so it's a bit easier to follow, but the four point of views added a lot to the development of the plot and helped me connect more with all the characters! I also can't wait to read the next book in this series! This book was amazing and was left at such a cliff-hanger! I'm now going to be on pins and needles for the next book lol! I hope I don't have too long a wait for it! The cover for this book is also amazing! It suits it perfectly and looks awesome with the other covers! I love how well it suits the title too! Big thank you to Mira Ink and Netgalley for an ARC of Soldier!
Will no longer be reading or reviewing this book due to lack of interest in the title, and the fact that the title has been archived.
Julie Kagawa is one of my favorite authors and her books about dragons are totally badass. In Soldiers, the stakes are higher than ever. The characters were done really well and developed over the course of the book, I felt with them and couldn't imagine what they were going through. Julie Kagawa always writes characters that feel real and surreal (I mean: come on!) at the same time, which makes me wish to dive into the world of the book. In this case, it might not be such a good idea, since Ember and the others are fearing their lives all the time. The book is fast paced but some scenes are more laid back which gives the book a great dynamic. Of course the book ended in a cliffhanger - thank you Julie! I strongly recommend this book and can't wait to read the next book!
I hate that I have no interest in reading this series anymore. I really enjoyed the previous two books for what they were; action packed, mystery filled sagas with a lot of teenage angst thrown in. As I write this review I'm trying to convince myself to give this book a chance but I just know that it won't be any time soon as I have so many other books that I want to read. Plus my reading tastes have changed a little. I don't know. I might end up reading this book when I want a break from full on fantastical worlds and complex sci-fi stories. It's just not what I'm looking for right now and the length of time I've had this book and haven't picked it up just shows it's not on my to be read list right now. Thank you so much for allowing me to review this book and I may just do so in the future.
