Always love a giovanna fletcher book. Loved going back to the characters in billy and me. A lovely heart warming romantic read again. Easy to read, perfect for summer and holidays.
I love the on going story of Sophie and billy and their extended families. What a treat to be able to delve into their lives once again .Giovanna is brilliant at conveying the feelings of these two lovely people .This is pure escapism and I for one love every single word of it .long may giovanna find still Stories to tell about them .I can't wait to see what happens next .
Giovanna Fletcher is such a talented woman and her books are another great bow in her quiver. Always With Love is tender, sweet, funny and just brilliant. Much like Gi herself!
Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
Just exactly as we have come to expect from a book by Giovanna Fletcher.
A first class amazing read.
I look forward to reading many more of her books over the coming years.
I've read quite a few of Giovanna's books and enjoyed this one as much as the others. Would look out for her next one.
I would say this was better than the first book. I could definitely tell that Giovanna's writing has gotten better. Again, this was an easy read and I liked it for the most part, as with the previous book. However it did fall a bit flat compare to other British "chick lit" writers.
I found the characters still a bit annoying. Sophie was so insecure at times that I wanted to jump into the pages and shake her. I couldn't imagine being in a relationship with her because you wouldn't be able to do anything without her worrying that you were going to sleep with someone else. Billy was a lot better in this, he didn't make any stupid decisions like he did in the previous novel.
I liked getting to see more of the Hollywood side of Billy, it kind of felt like that didn't exist in the first novel. I liked getting to see his life there and his family. Overall I'd say the characters felt a lot more adult in this novel, they actually tried to work through their problems instead of just shoving them under the carpet.
I'll be honest, if you've followed me for a while you'd know that I schedule everything and have a huge backlog of reviews, so I read this in December and I'm writing this in February, it wasn't very memorable as I'm struggling for words. It wasn't a terrible book by any means, and the writing was good, it just didn't feel like anything new. That's not a problem really, it's just not what I'm after.
This is my first book by Giovanna but I loved it. It's a follow on from a previous book but that doesn't matter if your like me and didn't read it you don't struggle to understand the storyline.
What a great book, I loved finding out what would happen between Billy and Sophie. Would their love hold being thousands of miles apart. Well I won't spoil what happens, you will have to read it to find out.
I quickly realised when reading the synopsis that you really needed to read Billy & Me which was released in 2013. I quickly rectified that and as I enjoyed it so much I was keen to get going with this sequel. I was so pleased that I did as I really enjoyed it! This can certainly be read as a standalone, but is so much more enjoyable having the back story of these two. Billy and Sophie when we last left them had settled into life in a rural countryside setting in Kent and when we return things seem about as perfect as you could ask for. However, when Billy arranges a trip to visit his family in Los Angeles, Sophie realises things are going to be chaotic once again!
Billy's parents and siblings are not what I expected and although Sophie is made to feel welcome she soon realises she is a little out of her depth when it comes to understanding the sort of fame and life that Billy has over there. When Billy is offered the chance to stay on a while, she realises that the distance between them will be the biggest test for their relationship. As Sophie returns to the UK and her little tea shop, she realises that the distance isn't the only thing that will pose a problem (but I will say no more on that front).
The story flows well and I loved both Billy's family as well as the return of all the villagers in Sophie's home town. There were also some old fashioned elements in this story such as the decision for Billy and Sophie to go back to some of the old traditions and write to each other. The book picks up pace as both Sophie and Billy are pushed to the limits whilst desperately trying to make things work. There were certain things that felt a little unfinished and in all honesty I was surprised we didn't get more insight into Billy's family's characters. That aside, this is an easy read with characters I really like and as such I thought it was a great sequel.
