Ah, what a lovely, sunshine filled read! Tilly Tennant always writes the sweetest, most charming books and this was no exception.
This book hooked me so easy to read love it I could she the barkey in my head love them characters a fun read I read in a day love it all
The story focus is on two main groups, Millie, who has come to open a bakery, and Jasmine, who befriends her and works to help her set up her bakery. In addition, there is Jasmine's brother Dylan, who falls for Millie, Spenser, who secretly loves Jasmine, and befriends Millie, and Rich, Jasmine's husband. Side characters, include Ruth, who is a lonely elderly woman who is adorable. A lot going around, but it works to keep the story going well. Didn't quite understand the Rowena character though, and would have preferred her not there. Otherwise, highly enjoyed this one and another hit by a great author. Recommend this one if you like British small town romances.
Heartwarming story by an author that's new to me. Always love a story that involves bakeries and new beginnings!
I wish that I could move to the village of Honeybourne! This book is a perfect fun read, with smiles and laughs and great characters.
The little village bakery by Tily Tennant.
Meet Millie. Heartbreak has forced her to make a new start and when she arrives at the old bakery in the little village of Honeybourne she is determined that this will be her home sweet home. Her imagination has been captured by the tumbledown bakery but with no running water and dust everywhere, her cosy idea of making cakes in a rural idyll quickly crumbles.
Luckily the locals are a friendly bunch and step in to help Millie. One in particular,Dylan, a laid-back lothario, soon captures her attention.
But just as Millie is beginning to settle in, an unexpected visitor from her past suddenly turns up determined to ruin everything for her. It’s time for Millie to face the skeletons in her closet if she’s going to live the dream of running her little village bakery, and her blossoming romance with Dylan.
This was a lovely feel good read. I loved Millie but I did not like Rowena at all. Absolutely loved it. Brilliant. Had me laughing in places and in tears. Dylan especially made me laugh. 5*.
Millie arrives in the village of Honeybourne determined to make a fresh start after a particularly bad breakup. Just when her bakery dreams are coming true and a new romance begins to blossom, someone from her past makes an untimely appearance. Will her dreams be derailed for good? Utterly charming story.
The cover is an absolute eyecatcher which shows the cosy atmosphere of the little village.
"The Little Village Bakery" is a really nice story with a cute setting in the little village Honeybourne. We follow Millie who bought the old bakery and is starting her new life while escaping from her past.
The story is mostly predictable but really sweet, still I had some problems with it. I found things developing too fast and I missed some depth in the story and with the characters. The book also failed to really touch me emotionally. Yeah, it's a cute story but unfortunately not more to me.
Millie was a sweet person which I really liked but I had my difficulties with Dylan. There was too much change of character in a very short time and his past was only a short marginal note. I think there was a lot more potential in his character.
I liked that the story didn't only concentrate on Millie and Dylan but also on other members of the village.
The writing style is fast-paced and very enjoyable to read.
I enjoyed this book although it wasn't quite what I was expecting. The characters were well-written though I did find the story a little far-fetched at times but as I said I did enjoy it so that didn't detract from my enjoyment too much.
I really liked the Honeybourne village, the residents were so sweet, caring and helpful. All the characters were likeable and easy to relate to with their own ups and downs. The main focus was on the village life, friendships and love, but I also enjoyed the mystery aspect what surrounded Millie, I was eager to know what happened to her in the past. It was a pleasant start to the series and I can't wait to read the next part.
We all know where I stand with this type of book, I was approved for it on netgalley sometime last year, so its sat for a while and I cannot believe i have not read it sooner. As part of my 30 day reading challenge, this was one of the first books I picked up. A trip to the village of Honeybourne is exactly what I needed.
Millie has fled from heartache, and she was doing really well selling cakes before so why not buy a bakery and make a business of the one she can actually do. It shouldn't take her too long to fix up the run down bakery. However, when Millie arrives in the little village of Honeybourne, it quickly becomes clear there is more to do than Millie bargained for. Lucky for Millie though - the village is a friendly one and everyone doesn't mind mucking in, especially Jasmine and her brother Dylan.
Jasmine has everyone's best interests at heart, and quickly warms to Millie - but so does her brother. Dylan has a slight reputation around the town, but there is something about Millie. With a blossoming romance with Dylan, and a blooming friendship with Jasmine, can Millie keep the past from catching up with her?
Tilly has created a warm friendly village, that has its residents best interests at heart. The characters all have their faults and flaws, but they are so natural that you wouldn't even think twice about them - its just like all of us. The village has a perfect small community feel and you would love to stop by for a visit with a cup of tea and cake when the Little Village Bakery opens.
There is enough drama and mystery to push the narrative through, but light hearted enough for a beach read. I loved this so much and I cannot wait to visit Honeybourne again and have a catch up with everyone.
This is a feel good story set in a fictional village called Honeybourne. We meet long term residents, Jasmine and her husband Rich. Dylan who is Jasmine's brother and Ruth the elderly, village oddity and gossip. Newcomer Millie buys the old village bakery. She is single and trying to start a new life, hiding a dark secret. The whole village is involved in welcoming and helping Millie restore the bakery. Making her one of their own. So when a stranger tries to upset Millie's new life, the village come together to protect her. A great summer read.
