Okay I have to admit I haven't read the first book in this series and I think this kind of hindered my enjoyment of the book for sure. Dr Maria Martinez is out of prison and on the run and all she wants is to get back to her family. I have to admit the way this was written gave it a feel of something similar to the Bourne films, that kind of vibe! I admit I struggled at times (again just because of no context from book 1) however I persevered. The writing is actually very good and the author clearly has skill. Sadly for me I just couldn't get a great feeling from it as I think you really have to read book 1

An interesting take on the genre of adopted children with an unknown past and needing to find answers to where they come from. Maria Martinez is a plastic surgeon with Aspergers Syndrome.
Unfortunately although this is the second book in trilogy I was unable to start at the beginning and read the first instalment, I feel I missed out.
The story line set against a backdrop of the Basque separatist movement's tension with the Spanish state, involves Dr Martinez leaving prison and trying to stay clear of the mysterious 'Project', a group that she was adopted from as a child. The story is fast paced, action filled, and beautifully written.
I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to people who enjoy action thrillers with fast moving deliuvery and a large amount of tension, however read the first book, 'Subject 375' first.

The secound book in a series always makes me nervous.
Why?
Because when book one is so perfect, so enjoyable so all embracing I don’t want to feel cheated on book two.

I wasn’t though.
It was “cooked” to perfection. I was in a heady dizzy space in time with this one which made me mentally turn around in full cir.

I absolutely loved it.

You must read these books in order.
Book three is already out I believe.

The project trilogy (2) by Nikki Owen.
No matter how fast you run, the past always catches up with you.
Dr Maria Martinez is out of prison and on the run.
Her mission? To get back to the safety of her family.
Little does she know that this might be the most dangerous place of all…
A very enjoyable read with great characters. Maria was my favourite character. I loved how she wouldn't stop until she got the truth. Can't wait for next part. 4*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.
