I was totally engrossed in this book. I loved how the two different sides of the story were told. I just felt so sorry over the wasted time between the two characters

This book tells the story of Jack and Laura's marriage after it has broken up. I really enjoyed the format of this book, which is told mainly through Jack's diary entries during a difficult time in their relationship; with comments and edits from Laura, shared with their son as a way of explaining the breakup. Jack is trying to reconcile with Laura by cataloging what went wrong with their relationship - the problem is, Laura doesn't see it the same way. This is a relatable read about the importance of communication to any relationship, with a smattering of domestic noir and two unreliable narrators to keep you interested to the end.
For a debut, this has to be praised. Quirky, yet simple, it has a humorous edge if somewhat dark and complex. An above average look at the human condition. Well done, Rory.
