Very enjoyable read, ideal summer beach book! Felt it was a little predictable but nevertheless less a book I didn't want to end.

Summer at oyster bay by Jenny Hale.
They say falling in love is easy. But what if you know it’ll break your heart?
For Emily Tate, returning to her charming childhood home Oyster Bay is like coming up for air after the fast pace of her city life. At the farm her grandfather built, surrounded by sister Rachel’s chatter, Gram’s buttermilk biscuits, and the soft, white sand, Emily is reminded of exactly who she is and what she holds most dear.

When Emily starts work at elegant Water’s Edge Inn, Charles Peterson, the handsome new owner, asks for her help. He wants to expand and needs Emily to teach him the local ways, so he can convince the planning commission. Emily vows to make him fall in love with her hometown, just the way it is.

At work, Charles is reserved and serious, yet once Emily has him kicking off his shoes in the sand and sailing across the glistening Chesapeake Bay, she sees another side to him, and their easy rapport feels like the start of something big.

But when it becomes clear Charles’s plans for the inn involve bulldozing Oyster Bay, Emily is heartbroken. Will she lose her home and Charles all at once, or can she save Oyster Bay, and give true love a chance?
This was a good read with likeable characters.  Found it slow in places.  3*.

Loved this read and everything about it. Emily goes back to Oyster Bay where she grew up, she and Rachel her sister were brought up by they're grandparents as their parents had died in an horrific accident.

Three years later we see her return, shes broken up with her fella who wanted to marry her.

She manages to get a job as an Events manager where she meets someone.

This is an emotional story, a Happy ever after.

Emily has returned to her hometown after she turned down her boyfriends proposal. When she starts working at Water's Edge Inn she meets the owner Charles Peterson. Charles is having a hard time getting the permission he needs to complete his projects, so  Emily helps Charles to learn the local ways. The two have such chemistry its obvious something is going to happen between them. When Emily finds out his project is to destroy her childhood home she's devastated and does everything she can to try to save it.

Jenny does such a good job of weaving in the subplots that Emily's family are involved in. They are relateable. The problems they go through are the ones that everyone has been through.

Emily's niece is adorable and I always have a lot of love for dogs so Flash was also  a favourite of mine.

I adore Jenny's summer books. Actually I love all of Jenny's books. I love her writing style, I love her characters and I love her locations. Chesapeake Bay is a stunning location that has beautiful beaches and glittering seas.

I can't wait to dive into the next book from Jenny because I know 'm going to be taken to the most beautiful location.

Emily Tate has returned to Oyster Bay, her childhood home after three years of city living as well as turning down her boyfriend's proposal. She realizes that she is a small town girl and wants to live where she grew up. She is back at home with her gran in the house her papa built, where she grew up after the tragic accident that killed both her parents. She has been hired by her friend as the events manager at the Water’s Edge Inn, Charles Peterson has recently purchased the Inn and has plans for a big expansion. He wants her to help him convince the planning board to allow the expansion. He also wants to get to know more about the community, the food, the customs and the people and he thinks Emily is just the person to do that. When Emily realized that his expansion plans include Oyster Bay, which would mean leveling her family home, she sets her sights on convincing him to leave her family home and property as is. The fact that he grew up a rich boy and his whole life was geared to making money, they could not be more different. Will she be able to convince him? Where will the feelings she has to Charles (Charlie) lead? Not only is she fighting to save Oyster Bay but she is dealing with her gran's declining health and her sister and her brother-in-law a bit on the outs due to her wanting to go back to work. Should one person's dreams be put on hold because someone else wants something different for them?

I love the characters in this book. They are fun, loving and very realistic. I wanted to join them on their family activities. When things looked down, I found myself hoping that Emily could figure out a way to solve the problem. It kept me reading to the end without wanting to stop. I loved the ending. It was amazing and has me wanting to read more from Jenny Hale. This was a great summer read and I recommend it to others who enjoy romance, family drama or just a smalltown story.

Summer at Oyster Bay is a cosy summer read which makes you feel immediately at home with the seaside town and its characters.

The storyline is straightforward and there is maybe not too much happening but I enjoyed its cosy atmosphere and how Emily settled back and struggled with life changes at Oyster Bay.
The book has a set of wonderful characters and I really liked Emily and her family, especially Grams.

The atmosphere made me feel at home and I liked how the story was built about Emily's memories. The love story felt a bit distant at times but overall I liked Charlie and what he did for Emily.

Again I enjoyed the author's writing style and I am looking forward to read for from her.

My thanks to the Publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review. I gave this a 4 stars or 8/10.

I enjoy Jenny Hale's books, they're always well written with likeable characters and a story that you can immerse yourself in, this one is no different at all.

Emily Tate, is an Oyster Bay girl through and through. Growing up there as a youngster the place has a huge place in her heart, leaving in her early adult life to start a new life in the city. On returning to Oyster Bay, she starts work in a local Hotel and is soon taken in by the charms of the new owner Charles Petersen, both professionally and emotionally.

Emily likes Oyster Bay as it is and doesn't see the need for change, Charles has a completely different view and would like to see huge changes. He hopes that she will help him gain the faith and trust of the locals. Can Emily make him change his mind and realise that Oyster Bay is lovely as it is?

I enjoyed the developing relationship between Emily and Charles in the story and really hoped that love would conquer all.

If you're looking for something to take you away from your normal day to day life and problems, then grab a copy and immerse yourself in the story like I did.
