This book was fine and I enjoyed the characters and world building. It's not something I would probably end up reading again because the writing felt disjointed.
An interesting fantasy - well-done world building, good writing, and some good fun bits. Not wholly my kind of thing, but I was happy to give it a try. Certainly interested in checking out more of the author's work.
*did not finish*
I got through the end of chapter 2, I believe. It took me three tries to get that far, and I kept falling asleep when reading it.
I found everything about it confusing and hard to follow. Who's that? What are they doing? Why are wizards running the East Coast of the US? What was this war? What? Huh? Who?
Maybe this style would work for other people, but I found jumping right in to a world and a battle without really explaining any of it for at least 2 chapters (maybe more, who knows, I stopped) to just not work for me.
Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
